Gas

And as a follow up to last night's insomnia discussion (2:30 am yech), what kept me up, apparently, was gas. Once I figured out what it was, I went downstairs and had a bit of organic apple cider vinegar mixed in with water. "Yuck", you say, "sounds nasty." Yeah doesn't taste that great. And it sounds counter intuitive putting acid into your stomach. But the stuff really works. All natural, none of the side effects that manufactured medicine has, and I usually don't have stomach problems for a while after taking it. Ever heard of this one? Or what do you do instead?

I've used it before for that, as well as in a mixture for a chest cold/nose run. It's mother nature's natural remedy. Hope you're felling better. Namaste-Anora

Ihave this problem occasionally too. The only way I can resolve it is by sitting up straight and punching my back (as though I was doing it to a baby after their feed) and then I lie down on my tummy to sleep (which I hate in normal circumastance). That is the only way I can get relief because if I send any liquids down it just seems to aggravate the situation further. I usually sleep like a log as soon as I hit the pillow and for six hours afterwards. If after five minutes I am not asleep then that is my problem too but I manage to resolve it that way thank goodness.

Much as I love seeing you here I hope it won't happen again like last night and this will not be a recurring problem

No kidding. And if it happens again, may it happen on a night when I can sleep in the next morning!!!

For some reason I literally can't stomach apple cider even though it's supposed to be good for a whole host of health problems naturally. Thank goodness I no longer have gas problems...I used to have real serious gastritis bouts every once in awhile..nothing helped, not Maalox, Pepto bismol...nada...Know what helped? I would brew up and make an infusion out of fennel seeds (tastes like licorice)...that was the ONLY thing that would help me. As for now, I no longer get gastritis or plain gas ever since I eliminated heavily fried foods.

Fennel huh? Might try that.... I don't eat things that bother my stomach often but there are some that I like too much to give up entirely!

Apple cider vinegar has many positive affects for different types of ailments. So yes I have heard of this before. And no I have never taken it before. Glad the apple cider vinegar did the trick for you for your gas.

I don't have a lot of problems with gas, even though I am a vegetarian. By that, I mean my boyfriend and I are comfortable farting in front of each other all day and all night! Ha... All kidding aside -- I don't normally get cramps or severe odor or anything like that which may bother me too much, so I don't seriously have any problems with that. Sometimes if I have really bad gas cramps on occasion, doing some stretches will alleviate some pain -- and expel some gas as well! Best wishes. :=)
