Why justify God?

I do not understand why people take so much trouble in justifying the actions and deeds of God in the Bible, especially in the old testament. If a human being does something wrong, people attack him ruthlessly. Similarly, if God has done something wrong, we should not justify him. We should be honest. If God has shown cruelty , let us look at that act to be cruel. That God is perfect is only a belief and not a fact. You would have to define perfection first. And if you say God has a purpose behind his evil deeds, then I would say all those criminals rotting in jails also had a purpose behind their criminal activities.

If one can accuse then why cannot another defend? Proverbs 27:11 (Amplified Bible) 11My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, that I may answer him who reproaches me [as having failed in my parental duty].

Job 1:7-11 (Amplified Bible) 7And the Lord said to Satan, From where did you come? Then Satan answered the Lord, From going to and fro on the earth and from walking up and down on it. 8And the Lord said to Satan, Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who [reverently] fears God and abstains from and shuns evil [because it is wrong]? 9Then Satan answered the Lord, Does Job [reverently] fear God for nothing? 10Have You not put a hedge about him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have conferred prosperity and happiness upon him in the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. 11But put forth Your hand now and touch all that he has, and he will curse You to Your face.

Scientifically speaking, 'good and evil, 'up and down,' 'in and out,''right and wrong,'are not existant. The astronauts soon realized, 'up and down,' are relevant as they journeyed to the moon. by the same token 'right and wrong,' ('good and evil,') are simply degrees of enlightenment. The good being enlightened, and the bad being unenlightened. God being supremely enlightened, is incapable of evil, as opposed to those incarcerated criminals, who are to a greater degree unenlightened, and many are incapable of doing good.

When religious people use the word "god", do they know exactly what they are referring to? My answer is that they don't. It always amazes me that people who believe in a god can never ever describe what this god is, in any specific concrete way, even though they speak of god as if they have personally met him/her/it face to face. God is a concept that lives in the head of people because of religious brain-washing over the centuries. And this brain-washing has been so powerful that people accept "god" as real when in fact it's just an idea that floats in their consciousness. Throughout the ages Mankind has always created numerous gods (ideas of deities). As a case in point: compare the OLD god of the old testament with the NEW god of the new testament. They are two completely different gods (ideas of deities). The OLD god (idea of deity) is wicked and unforgiving. The NEW god (idea of deity) is caring and forgiving. The OLD god supported mob-stoning and killing of so-called "sinners". The new testament adopts a more gentle and reasoned approach. If god (idea of deity) was consistent and perfect throughout the ages, why don't present-day civilised societies resort to stoning its wayward citizens in the streets? The reason is that Mankind is able to improveve his deified concepts as he learns more about himself. In other words: god (idea of deity) changes in the minds of its creators (Mankind) as the majority of people progress towards enlightened understanding. That's why it's impossible for religious groups to agree on what their religion represents because they are dealing purely with concepts. And we know that ideas are subject to manipulation and repositioning, which, in essence, constitutes a wide range of opinions. God is an idea that doesn't have a concrete personality, even though some people would like us to believe otherwise.

I think people justify God because they want to be perfect in life. It is said that God created Man after himself and imbibed the best qualities in His creation. So man has always been trying to emulate the standards set by God in the various religious books and so whenever anybody criticizes God, we don’t like it. God is our ultimate Hero, we don’t like our heroes with negative qualities, our heroes should be perfect in every way, so what if we aren’t ourselves?!

^_^ Howdy!.... Frederick42!.... God is our only hope. Even a less fortunate, blind and terminal ill patient can feel the presence of a Living God and their only hope. There's no one to blame but only from our weaknesses. And these weaknesses are part of the soul's spiritual evolution of God or Christ consciousness of awareness. God knows all what is the very best for us. We can question, seek or search God and that's all He wanted. And God will provide the answers of all what we want and all what we need. Believe God first and His righteousness. Do all according to His will and righteousness. ^_^ God bless us all!.... Peace!.... Thanks!.... and Enjoy!.... myLot!....

I don't have to justify God. Firstly, God Himself has not claimed to be perfect; only people have made that claim. Secondly, people here in America have actually served God with civil suits, and the cases were eventually dismissed. Thirdly, I really don't think God is intimidated by what anyone's point of view is; God does not answer to us. And finally, you are less than perfect. If you are enlightened, then you should have better things to do with your time than point fingers at people who have done wrong. And if you have nothing better to do than point fingers, then you can point your finger at a mirror. No one is perfect, not even you.

First of all we are all imperfect....We can't see with a perfect mind or perfect heart in matters.
