I need someone's HELP fast... this is going to drive me up a WALL!

Computer Keyboard - This is my computer keyboard. It is acting up and driving me up a wall. Whenever I click a link it opens in a new window. I don't know what I did but I think it has something to do with a button I accidentally pushed on my keyboard.

I don't know what I just did. My computer was working just fine a few minutes ago but now whenever I click a link it opens in a new window. I have sooo many windows open it isn't even funny! Also, whenever I try to scroll down the page everything gets highlighted and I can't get it to stop. What the heck is wrong? I even rebooted my computer to see if that would work but it is still doing it. Help me please before I throw my computer out the window!

I think you'll probably need to go to Tools and Internet Options and make some adjustments. Then go to your control panel and find your mouse adjustments. I hope someone has already given you a good answer, I'm mainly just replying to give you a penny! I hate it when things like that happen but the answer is usually simple--I had a problem with my mouse this week and got some great responses, it turned out so simple and didn't cost me a thing!

Viruses happen! I think I got that one a few weeks ago when my doughter was on myspace too much. I got lucky and it cleared up after I did a Spybot check, but I hope you do well and get it out of your system! Computers... Cant live woth or without em!

Hi ljbinkop how do you do a Spybot check..have heard of this but don't know how to do it, I have a laptop and sometimes will go on another site and when I go to close it all these tabs keep opening of the same page on the same site, then I reboot my laptop and it seems ok again but sometimes it happens again so I have to reboot the laptop again...so I would like to do a Spybot check just to make sure there isn't anything to worry about, thanks littleowl

This happens to me once in a blue moon... and only on my laptop. I usually just reboot and it's fine. I don't know what causes it either. Some of the suggestions don't seem to make sense if all is well after I reboot. Rebooting doesn't unstick a mouse or a key. It is crazy though, having window after window open before you even have a chance to close one of them. All I do is reboot and it is fine. Hope that solves your problem.

Is your virus software up to date? It sounds like you may have been hijacked. I had something similar happen to me. Every time I tried to do something I was diverted to another site. Ultimately my system crashed and I had to have my hard drive cleaned and my os reinstalled. Do you have a backup disk? You may be able to restore back to a past date. Good luck.

It is frustrating to think of how easy it is for our computers to get out of whack.

Try going to the Options in your browser menu, and search through the buttons in there until you find, "open links in new tab" or something similar, depending on which browser you use. This happened to me, I don't know how or why, but I had to reset my browser setting. It could mean that if you have updated recently, your browser was reset. I hope you find a solution.. Derek

i had experience that kind of thing too many times before. but when i reboot it will just work fine again. though rebooting is quite a waste of time for me. i think my problem was not really about any key being stuck up or something. maybe it is kind of a virus. so i do try to reformat if this problem persist. but sometimes the problem goes away by itself. that was about last year. but this time i don't have any problem like that again with my new computer.

come on friend,Don't lose your cool.Calm down fast otherwise whatever you will do will be end up in mess. I think this is just a case of virus affection to your computer.Jst try a good anti virus and check your system thoroughly. before doing that delete those malicious cookies from your system.I think just doing this will be enough for your computer to regain it's earlier form. Wish you all the best.

I experiences the same a couple of days ago. In such cases, I tried to turn off by pushing the little button under the usual round button, and restart the computer. When asked if to resume to the saved programs, select no. Maybe it helps. Wish you good luck. If such problem occurs repeatedly, you will have to call the service responsible, which I did. After adjusting the routing in their center, it is working much better now.

What had you been doing before this started happening? Had you been surfing the internet or downloading something? Sounds like you may have picked up a virus bug or something.

Actually, I was just responding to discussions here on myLot... no downloading or anything else. I checked my e-mail this morning and came to myLot... that's it! But, I think I fixed it. Not quite sure what I did to cause it but I just went to the control panel and then to the keyboard icon and messed with some things and now it seems better. I hope!

LOL! I'm not very computer savvy, yet I make a living working on one... go figure. Anyway, what I do when I have malfunctions like that is to try the System Restore feature. There are complicated ways to get there if you don't know about it -- but I just type it in the search box after hitting Start. GL! Maybe someone else has a little more tech knowledge than I. :-?

I think there is a problem with your mouse. Your mouse's left button could have got stuck. Check it. This is what I guess.
