I enjoy while eating food. But I hate when the same food gives me heart burn. I have seen many times when I eat some fat foods or deep fried foods or some sweets I get this heart burn. How can I Prevent the heart burn caused by these foods? How to keep that acid build up in the stomach, from reaching the esophagus in our digestive tract, which causes the heart burn? Normally I take one "tums"(antacid tablet). Is there any other remedies other than medicines, that can help me to overcome this heart burn? Happy mylotting

It comes down to whether or not you really enjoy the food that you eat, that causes the heartburn to warrant going through the pain of acid reflux. Acid Reflux or heartburn can be an occasional upset, in which case would not be too alarming but if one experiences heartburn more often, this could lead to more serious health problems. To learn more about what causes heartburn and so forth, here is a really great website; http://familydoctor.org/online/famdocen/home/common/digestive/disorders/087.html To avoid heartburn, stop eating the foods that are troublesome. Stop eating these food for at least one week. If the heartburn subsides and you are craving these fatty foods or sweets that have caused the heartburn in the past, re-introduce them, a little at a time and slowly. Let me say this, I have not any problem with heartburn but during the Christmas season, I began getting acid reflux (heartburn). This is totally unusual for me but so was the foods I was eating and the times of the day I was eating them. Often around 8p.m., we would gather for tea and Christmas cake, chocolates and other sweets. Within half an hour of the gathering I would be feeling the heartburn. I simply stopped eating those foods at that hour and I was fine. If I had a slice of Christmas cake earlier in the day, it didn't seem to bother me at all. Hope this helps. If your heartburn is regular, I would suggest seeing a doctor to be sure that you are not damaging your asophagus. This can lead to more serious problems. If I were you I would eat the foods that you love, that are causing the heartburn, in moderation or not as often. Not at all would be best. Please read the attached link as it may help for you to understand more about heartburn. Another link I found that was interesting is Learn How to Prevent 'Heartburn' Caused by Fatty Food Feasts http://news.softpedia.com/news/Learn-How-to-Prevent-039-Heartburn-039-Caused-by-Fatty-Food-Feasts-40293.shtml Good Luck. I hope that you may overcome this as soon as possible. I know that it is not fun at all.

If you want a natural herbal remedy, licorice is a great remedy for heartburn and other digestive problems, even ulcers. The herb licorice, not the candy. Licorice candy doesn't usually have actual licorice in it. If you have high blood pressure only use the dyglycrized licorice. Licorice tea works, as well as chewable licorice tablets. In the U.S. they are available at most health food stores. They are available internationally online at places like iherb and other onine health stores. I hope you find a cure for your heartburn that works for you. Take care!

King Salad - King Salad is traditionally known as good raw veggie to enhance blood circulation, blood cleansing and strengthen bone.
OK Muru ~ I'll tell you for what I practice eating daily, can be easily planted in your house compound area and can make money by selling it to the market. It is "King Salad" buds(terminal protuberance on a plant), I learned about this raw veggie plant when I came to Malaysia in Dec. 2006. I take it as my regular raw veggie daily intake. Its mild-bitter makes me like it very much. For healthy reason, they are many articles on internet which King Salad plant traditionally traditionally known as good raw veggie to enhance blood circulation, blood cleansing and strengthen bone. It mild-bitterness taste indicate that it is an alkali type Ph balance and able to neutralize the high level of acidity in our stomach. Can test it at instant, for those who has high blood pressure take it before eating rice for the quantity about 20 buds of it and they can enjoy eating rice in large quantity without getting headache as a symptom to their high blood pressure. You can test it with your "heartburn" problem as you asked for non-medical treatment for it.

I have found that if I drik a little milk when I have heart burn, it seems to help reduce it. I think it is because it coats the stomach more so that water does. My hubby says that it helps him too, so it may be worth a try for you.

Hi, Why 'Heartburn' occurs?when HCl secreted by stomach cells come in contact with the bruises(caused by disaese, continuous starving, spicy food etc),produce Heatburn.very easy to take any antacid,( inspite of chalky taste, chances of dependence etc). U may try these to PREVENT Heartburn:- 1)Avoid keeping stomach empty, more than 3 hrs.Eat something(biscuit, fruit etc). 2)Avoid spicy, oily, junkfood, gastfood etc. 3)If u r not allergic to Milk, drink one cup cold milk(kept in fridge)every night,1 hour before bed. =Lahiri,Kolkata,India.
