Do you agree? If it werent for all the labels we throw n people, by race, political group, organization affiliation, diseases, social status, financial status, etc. We are supposed to be a nation of United PEOPLE!! Lets try & let go of labels, & live peacefully with each other, even if that means swalloing your pride & agreeing to disagree

I agree. In some cases we need words and lables for things, but it's really gotten to the point where we obsess so much over lables and the gross generalizations they represent that it gets in the way of any accurate or comprehensive thought. In fact, I think it gets in the way of ANYONE thinking AT ALL. I think we need to get past the assumptions, the lables, and learn to look at the situation and eachother, and really consider things...THINK.

I think the only time labels hold us down is when we let them. My label - I am an American. I am also a german/polish woman. But first and foremost, I am an American. thats all. I will not accept limitations. I take my own future into my own hands. I think whining about labels is a cop out.

In part labeling people has indeed immobilized us. We don't want to act because it could look offensive even though it's not meant to be. We don't want to come of as racist or otherwise. In turn instead of unifying, we have further separated ourselves. I fully agree, we need to get rid of labels that define us, especially in terms of race. We'll never get rid of all of those invisible barriers if we don't get rid of the labels and the fear of hurting feelings with whatever action we take.
