Computer virus or sometthing else help?

Hi to all , i have a small problem , my laptop doesnt work any more , the symptoms are that my laptop just starts on win xp and then switches off only to reload again and again , i dont want to reinstall xp because i will lose all the data i have stored , can any one give me a hand on how to retieve the data before reinstalling xp, and has anyone had this problem , i also do or did have a good firewall and antivirus , thanks to all , greetings from bignik
