More layoffs in my area...

It sad to say that there are more layoffs coming to the area where I live. My fiance is already laid off. He has been laid off for about two months, and things don't seem to look like they are going to get better any time soon. A major company were I live has already laid off over 1,000 people, and they are looking to double there layoff amount in the next month or so. I have no clue how people are going to survive with all of these layoffs. So many companys are going under, and people are already struggling as it is. Yes there is unemployment, but the money that a lot of these people make is way more then what there unemployment will provide them with.
Do you know of anyone who is laid off? Any suggestions on how to handle and budget while being laid off? Thanks for your comments.

Hi tlb~ I'm sorry to hear that your fiancee has been laid off.
It is very stressful to have this happen especially with the
way that the economy is and the job market is today. I have
had to go through this before myself and it isn't pleasant.
The most important thing to do is to try to remain hopeful
and keep up a job search no matter how upsetting it gets. I
know that at times it is very difficult, but the most important
this is to not get yourself into a depression because that
will only make matters worse.
