What's your contribution to the environment?

I'm guilty of having a cabinet full of plastic bags in out kitchen. That's why when we go to the wet market, we always bring bags of our own so us not to add some more on the pile. But the stubborn vendors sometimes just keep on bagging the goods using their own plastic bags, and sometimes would double the bag, even when they are already being told not to. How I wish we could do the same with the grocery stores. But despite this pollution that we make, we make sure that we only dispose of plastics, papers, cans, and bottles. We have a small basin by the kitchen sink, and we put there the ones that are biodegradable, like fruits and vegetable peels, food scraps and rice washings. By doing this, we already have plant and soil fertilizers, then we can also help lessen the waste pollution. We also make sure that the disposable diapers that we buy for our son is made of cotton and paper, not plastic (and before we put the pooped diapers in the trash bin, we first dispose the poop in the toilet bowl). I was watching National geographic Channel last week, and the topic was "Human Footprints". From there, I learned that a person alone contributes tonnes of pollutants his lifetime in the environment. How about you, what is your contribution to the environment, especially now that we can already feel the global warming phenomenon?

I am a nature lover.I love planting trees.I believe that ones best contribution to the environment is planting trees.I also motivate my neighbours ,friends, my students to plant trees. It prevents soil erosion, adds up to the oxygen content ,takes carbon dioxide fron the surroundings.Trees are also responsible for bringing rain. All these can reduce global warming.

Isn't our life would be of more use if we do something that the place we live in could benefit? I know yours is. ;-) Thank you very much for the response, pickwick! Please, continue planting trees. :-)

I am agree with that, these are happening by human beings. About me I was unaware of these things but now I have learn in past year how these concern are curse for living beings. Now I am going to do something related to pollution and population control. I have a project for awareness program in the public place where people can see and listen information on environment hazards directly. My project's theme is lesser use of things coming from industrial manufacturing and give up the luxurious life.
