What do you think is the best setup for my CPU if i want less consumption. I don't know if the dual core CPU is efficient in saving energy. I'm planning to upgrade my CPU s so kindly give me some advice.

For the same amount of work less RAM is not recommended. This is because more time will be needed to complete the task. There will also be more use of thr hard disk because when there is insufficient RAM Windows uses part of the hard disk as virtual memory. More work for it translates into more energy being used. Its life will also be shortened. Someone has suggested the use of at least a dual core CPU. I agree with this because I am currently using an Athlon X2 with Win XP. There is no heat felt on the casing even though the PC is swtiched on almost 24hrs a day. Dual core means the work is divided and get done quicker. An analogy for the above is the difference between a small car and a big car. The small car is fuel efficient at low speeds with the highest gear. Let us say the two cars have to pull the same load a certain distance in a stipulated time. We will find the small car consumes more fuel. Even if less fuel is used up it is no longer cost efficient. all the best, rosdimy

If you want, there's Intel Little Falls 2. That type of CPU is suited for word processing and internet.

The best way to conserve energy is to either 1) stop doing so many things at once or 2) get something that is incapable of doing many things at once. Basically, you're looking for a pc that has low RAM. Less RAM means less processing abilities, means less energy used.

No CPU has ever been designed for purpose of low power consumption. As far as i know CPUs haven't been made or possibly can not be made both efficient and energy saving at the same time. Although we hear a lot from big companies like Intel, AMD, etc on Green Computing but since CPU is the main Computer component that has to work too fast and efficiently, it probably can not be made in a way that will help saving the money
