For those of you who take online surveys

For those of you who take online surveys, do you give out your real phone number for them? I used to do it, but I got so many phone calls that it was just too much for me to take, though it was really good money. I want to get back into it, but I don't know how to not get those phonecalls. Do you make a fake phone number? I know there were once sites where you could get an online voicemail and telephone number, but I can no longer find those (tell me if you know one!). What do you do?

Hi, I don't recall if I've been asked for my phone number, but if I have, I've always given my mobile number as I feel that's less personal than giving out my landline number. I've hardly gotten any calls. Maybe it depends on the sites you join. take care...

Interesting. I'd prefer to give a landline number over a cell phone. You run up minutes on a cell phone if the person calling isn't on the same network. I don't actually have a standard landline though and even if I did, I think I'd still prefer to give Skype in.

i have never given a real phone number and the email address I give out if from an account I setup just for signing up for things. The minute you open yourself up to those things it seems you get slammed by spam and telemarketers. I created a phone number at a free service that is a straight ot voicemail thing this way I know any messages in thier are from something I signed up for. The site I use is called k7.net it is free and I thin kcan handle what you need.

It depends on the site. Sometimes I've put my cell phone, but then i won't answer it if its long distance or a private number. Lately, I don't give it out anymore. It's true, once you give it out, everyone starts calling. Good luck

Oh I use a real number, but I no longer use it. LoL. So, if that number has been recycled I guess there is some poor person out there getting calls for me. Haha. Well, I've never had survey sites try to contact me like that in the past. Mostly it was those dumb sites that say you are filling out a survey, but your really asking for info on a bunch of stuff you aren't interested in and in the end they want you to buy something before actually giving you the survey. Hey, I tried it a ton! Even tried the one for a $500.00 gift card to walmart (wouldn't that be sweet) but I'm not going to do that anymore, because I don't have the money to spend in the first place... that's why I'm doing this in the first place!

I do give out my number, but none of them ever call me. I NEVER give my cell phone number, but I have Skype In/Out, so I just give my Skype In number to them all. It's only like $30 or so per year, so it''s super handy to have. It probably looks weird to them that I live in Texas and have a Utah number, but frankly I could really care less.

Hi, I can understand your situation. Although I usually do give them my real phone number, I haven't had any calls. The ones I have signed up for usually also have an "opt-out" selection box and you can check that if you don't want to take surveys over the phone. That is what I usually do. If for some reason I get the feeling that they or third party persons may call. I give them my disconnected cell phone number. But at one point I was getting numerous sales calls to the point I thought I would become bald, from pulling my hair outLOL that I had my number changed, and listed private, not available, unlisted. I pay a little more each month for this service, but it sure is quiet now. I know its a hassel to change numbers, but fortunately I didn't have a large amount of people to give it to. Or just use the caller ID and an answering machine and screen your calls. Another hassel, but its an idea.

When I first started doing surveys I was like you I gave out my phone number and I got a lot of unwanted phone calls. One of my friends here on MyLot gave me a web site that where I could get me a phone number to use. Here is the link and this is what I use. It has an extension number with it but I never use it. And it is always accepted on the offers. https://www.simplevoicebox.com

I used to give my real number only, but I did not receive even a sngle call from them. That may depend on our country of residence. IF you feel it as a disturbing one, you please contact the support department all the survey sites and ask them to remove your number or when you receive the call you just inform them to make a call to some other number as the number is changed and give them some ohter number.

why dont you set yourself up a premium rate number theres loads of sites out there that you can hire a number at varying costs. I do this in the uk and whenever I am asked for my number from a business or web site I put my premium 50p a min number down. If business then ring up I get paid so I dont mind having a chat with them lol, some companies wont ring a premium number tho but just a little bit extra income for a small start up fee depending on the company you use.

I never give out personal information when taking those kind of surveys. I always make up a fake name, address, phone number, etc.
