Then what would be the fate of the proverb "Failure is the pillar of success"? A man tries to achieve his goal but fails and again tries with the motivation that 'failure would make him still stronger and one day he would come successful. If this permissible there is no wastage of time if any activity does not result in progress towards a goal. Like the above this too could succeed after a couple of trials. So the result is no waste of time rather this would be gathering of experience for a better future. Remember, a baby does not walk in its first attempt.

although it is said that time is gold, we can never make use of time in order to be golden in value at all times. we need those wasted time that we spend watching tv or, chatting with friends or, whiling away with our children or, resting just closing our eyes doing nothing because, it is only by doing this that we will be able to unwind ourselves from all the cares of this world. when we unwind, we regain our strength, our sanity, our balanced thinking...meaning it is refreshing and calming. when we are in this frame of mind and state of the body, we can work more and do more and thus make the incoming hours with more golden value. so my answer to your query is this: no, an activity which is seemingly not productive, can be the blessing in disguise which one needs to come his way.

I am not agree with the views. A student is attending in class, learning the lesson carefully and ultimately failed to obtain a good marks. Has the student wasted his/her time?

I think it depends on how you define your goals. It isnt wasting time if you're doing something you enjoy or having a needed rest. Many of us work to achieve the goal of feeding our families yet the action of the work itself may seem like a waste of time !

No I don't agree. If "activity that does not result in progress towards a goal is a waste of time" then our entire lives, every minute of them would have to be goal oriented in order not to "waste time." Goals are good, but they aren't the be all, end all. People are complex beings. We need so much more than just striving all the time for something that's just beyond or way beyond our grasp. You'll never be satisfied with your life if you believe that it isn't complete unless you continually do, be, achieve something else because it never ends, you never get there and you feel the life you have just isn't really worthwhile because you haven't gotten "there." That's a sad way to live. Wherever we're going we need to stop and smell the roses along the way just because they are there. Take the time to just be and not to have to do. Appreciate the moments because this moment whatever moment in time it is, is all you really have. The past is gone, the future isn't here. This moment is what you have, so make the most of it.

There is an old saying "Try Try again atlast you'll succeed". This is a very good idea and might have still worked well if we were still in those days.but,in this fast changing competitive world, we have no time to try it for thrice. Once you may fail, you can give it a second chance. If twice failed better leave it and go for the next preference because we don't have time for the third. But, we must be sure of ourselves that we have given our best efforts in those two.
