Ok so my son was on a class trip...my cousin who is a co-op student was on the trip with another class. At lunch time all the classes met and went to have lunch. So she noticed that my son had a little bit of a bloody nose. She told him to go ask a teacher for a tissue. She was helping her class that she came with...and noticed that my son had been gone a long time and would not have time to eat if he soon didnt get back. So she went looking for him. He was standing beside a teacher, and she asked him if he had the kleenex he had told her that he was waiting. So she then went to the teacher he was standing beside and siad...This boy has a bloody nose would i be able to get a kleenex.. the teacher looked at my cousin and said...."well I'm not his teacher...so i'm not doing it ...why dont you just go ask someone else." My cousin said she siad it really snotty with huffing and puffing and everything. I think that no teacher should be able to tell a child she wont get him a kleenex for bloody nose...this make me very angry...and it makes me wonder how well his needs are being met while he is at school. So i was thinking about calling the school,...and complaining about this incident. Do you think i should...what should i say....and also do you think what the teacher did was wrong...or that she had a right to?

Of course you should call the school and don't let them try to minimize the incident either. Your son had a bloddy nose...he was bleeding...and *any* teacher there was morally obligated as a teacher and as a human being to give the poor kid a kleenex. He wasn't asking her to take him anyplace that would take her away from the kids she was responsible for. This kind of uncaring towards a child is terrible and, if it was me, I definitely wouldn't let it go.

I have not let it go...it really upsets me for many reason. 1. thats my son and I am outraged that she would just dismiss him like it didnt matter. 2 what is this teaching the children...about responsibility, morals, and simply caring about others 3 what about the well being of other children in her care? I worked in that same school as a co-op student...and I too seen things like this happening. It's so hard as a co-op student becuase unfortunetly your mark does come from these people so you have to kind of bite your tounge. But as a caring human being working with such a uncaring person I would take on the responsibility that were going to leave go unnoticed... But as a parent i cannot let these things go. I have also spread the word of what has happend to my son to other parents, I have talked to since.

Hi, If this happened exactly as you have stated then I wouldn't even hesitate. I wouldn't call I would just attend the head masters office. I would explain what I had been told and ask for an explaination from the teacher concerned but I'd do it calmly remembering there is 2 sides to every story! Why did this person become a teacher in the first place? It should not matter wether she knew your boy or not!!! If she saw a child in distress/injured etc then she should have helped them found who they were with and ensured their wellbeing was taken care of!! I'd be furious!! Has your boy told you what happened?? Good luck with whatever you decide x

Hello Well i decided to call and talk to the pricipal this morning...I explained the situation at the same time I talked to her about my sons bully situation. SHe was very understanding and ready to jump right in and deal with the bullying situation. However once i started to explain about the teacher, she started saying well...i dont know about that... So I said to her...I wasnt there...all I know is what i was told. I do not know if she was busy...if she was with a child, or what was going on. Then I told her that if it happened like it was told to me...then i was concerned about how my child was being cared for" SHe said well I will see what I can do...but I dont know about this." I said thats fine. SO who knows we will see...but i will find out something within the next couple days hopefully.

I think that teacher was VERY wrong and I would certainly call the school. Nice lesson for the child - it's not my job.

I know...thats what I was thinking...it's not my job...why should i have to do it"...Not to mention shouldn't we be teaching them how to care about other people regarless if they are our responsibility or not! I dont know I was very angry when my cousin told me...she said she wanted to punch her...lol she didnt she simply smiled and went somewhere else...she is a co-op student...but she wanted me to know...and I wanted the school to know what happened...and my concern with how my child...and other children are being treated...and taken care of.
