If any of you have every been, or known anyone who has been a victim of domestic violence then you can understand why this cause is so dear to my heart. Domestic violence shelters generally do not do fundraisers because their locations are kept secret to protect the people who come to them by not allowing the abuser to find them. They do what they can with what they have and in my opinion they do a darn good job. We have a shelter here that is run by volunteers and no one, even board members do not get paid. They survive on donations and community support. Currently they are in need of repairs to the building and other items so they have chosen to do a fundraiser. Since I know several people that volunteer there and also know a domestic violence survivor who they helped I would like to help them raise funds. Please visit my blog and read about this shelter. I have a widget there for donations but just so people can be sure that is where the money is going I have listed their mailing address so donations can be sent directly to them. It is really important for shelters like this to exsist because women need to know that there is someplace they can go for help when things get really bad. www.oleandlenas.blogspot.com/
