For all you camilia lovers out there, how did yours do this year? Did you have blooms for long? Or did the cold weather get them with a freeze? I had beautiful blooms before out snow before Christmas, but it also froze a lot of the flowers that were just blooming. We had more blooms in January and this month they are fading off but there are still a good many smaller flowers blooming out. I have even noticed a few more bubs on the tree, so maybe I'll even have some flowers in March. How did your camilias do this year? Did you have a bumper crop of flowers or just so-so?I am attaching a picture of my camilias from my old house below. They are the red ruffle design--not sure exactly what the real name is. Anybody know?

Did you forget to attach the picture again? LOL. I never have grown camilia's before. How tall do they get. Will they grow in Wisconsin. Would they have to be dug up for the winter? If you have some extra I would love to try them here. They sound beautiful. How many months do they bloom. Are they easy to raise, do they need anything special?

Oh gee, I guess this one didn't upload right. I did attempt to attach it. I'm not sure if they would survive up north. When it freezes you lose the flowers. They start blooming in November and go through February. Mine has about bloomed out not. They get to be huge, as tall or taller than a one story house!

Wow that is tall. Guess that wouldn't be good up here. But thank you anyways. Hugs Mary

Hi Marylynn, I found a picture for you here. I didn't think I had one on this computer at work. But that is one variety and the color I have at my current home. I had a pretty red ruffle one at my old house. They have all different kinds of these and colors too. One that is very striking is the peppermint stripe. It's white with a red stripe down the middle of each pedal. Pretty! Hope you are having a good day!

I planted camilias for the first time last year. We had a really cold winter for us - Florida. They did bloom for awhile but not very long. The ones on the side of my house are doing good but the ones in the front look sick. I'm going to put some fertilizer on them and see what happens. I have white ones and pink ones.

That's great that they bloomed for you when just planted! My big one is still blooming. I was looking at it today and amazed at how big some of the blooms are. Last month it seemed like it gave me all small flowers so I'm glad to see the big and pretty ones back! I don't suppose they will last much longer. Have a great evening!
