Decided to write my novel first rather then wait untl the end of the day

This Monday, I decided to do different. I would do my novel writing at the beginning and then practice my vocabulary, etc. and then when that is done, to get on myLot. Now even though I am fresh in the morning, my brain does not catch up until the afternoon, but I figured if I did what I usually do, do the ptcs first, and then myLot, I will be so worried about how much I will make that day, and will try to get so many posts started, and then the next day, finding I have not started enough, that I decided that I had better work on my novel first. My goal is 500 words a day, and that is easier in the morning, rather then wait until evening, when things like CSI Miami are more tempting. So what about you? Do you prefer to do your writing in the morning or wait until the end of the day?

I don't get to do much writing these days. As for Mylot, I do that all day long between chores.

I write in the morning, and then I do myLot when I am not busy doing other stuff, but then I find that sometimes the site loads too slow. I find that when I write in the morning, I get more words done.

Mos of my writing is done in the morning, as I'm a morning person and feel more active then. However, there are times when an ispiration, or something happens during the day that suits what I'm writing about, then I'll write as soon as my thoughts and ideas are in order.

When I get that I get out my how to write book and do some of the exercises. In fact, that is how I started my novel. I did one of the exercises and I thought, "what the he!!? and went on from there.:"

I do not know what I will do tomorrow. I have a birthday party to go to - mine, and it is at a friend's house,so I will have to get up early and do as much on my novel writing as I can. Oh I am not a morning person. It is just that I want to get things done and out the way. My brain does not come into gear until later.

I admire your dedication. I had times when I couldn't write for long periods at a time due to lack of inspiration.

Well with me, I am the only one in the house doing the cooking and the cleaning, and if I stare at the computer too long my eyes get blurry and I get fatter then i am now. I mean if I had servants to wait on me hand and foot, then I could keep on writing or maybe some of those wires like they had in The Matrix to keep my muscles working. I know yo are trying to make me feel guilty, that I have a schedule but writing 500 words and I do not mean just garbage, is hard especially when I have to go back and see "well what did I forget'

It's difficult for me to say exactly when I do most of my writings. For me, it's more a matter of whether I'm in the right mood or not. Sometimes, I'm in the right mood early in the day; sometimes, it's later in the day. The time that I write really varies from day to day. I think that I write better if I'm feeling low, sad, or something like that. Those are the times, when I can really write. Writing helps me release those emotions.

I cannot depend on my mood. I figure that if one does, that when one is not in the right mood one cannot write and if the bad mood appears more often, then it will be that the writing times get smaller and smaller. So I decide to write in the morning, and I am not a morning person, so that I can get it done with and do the rest of the work. Of course that does not count myLot. I find it is hard for me to start a post here.

I guess it must be rather depressing. I write fiction and I get into the character and I do have to tell myself that the character is not me. It does work. He is so skillful, and is not a clutz like me.

You have raised a good point. It all makes sense to do some writing everyday. It's just I find that I write more if I'm in a low mood. I can write for long periods. But this is just me.

Well I started writing my book over two years ago. I enjoy writing first thing in the morning when all is quiet and spirit is alive and moving. But here lately it seems like I've been stuck and I haven't been wanting to write. It's probably b/c I'm typing up here on mylot so often. Anyhow, I will get back to it soon and I just hope and pray that I can stay motivated. As God is my inspiration but I sometimes begin to take my writing talent for granted. I think to myself, oh it's so easy to sit down and just write, I can do it anytime. But I have learned that's not true. The best thing is to find a nice place, wherever it is that you enjoy being. Then set aside a certain amount of time and get busy writing. Time goes by fast when you are writing and whether it be thirty minutes or an hour. Just stick with it and it will surely pay off.....When I first started out I could barely write a full page. Now it's hard for me to stop at four or five pages. Okay this is enough for now. I gotta go to my yuwie site......... If anyone wants to join me over there here is my link http://www.yuwie.com/mommakingadifference........check it out and see what you think...... if you want to join here is the ref.link http://r.yuwie.com/233917 It's a little bit different from mylot but a lot of fun. Thanks for reading my post.

You cannot put referral links here. You have to direct people to your profile page and put the link of the page there.

decided to write a novel. I think that writing works better for me in the evening. I could easily write a novel if I had a certain amount of time during the morning or evening where I could set aside and not have to worry with being interrupted. As a mom we rarely ever get this kind of time so it would have to be late in the evening for me if I ever decided to write a novel or something. Last night it dawned on me as I began to feel something kind of churning around inside my spirit. I realized that the only real time that I get to myself is when I'm here mylotting. But with all great artist they have to write things down as they are feeling and sensing it or it will quickly go by them. So I got up to work on a song. I've got a very good rough outline of it started, I'm glad that I decided to get up off my bum and write it down. The main thing is to just do it, whether you decide to do it in the morning or the evening. Be sure to set aside that time, whether it is an hour or a half hour and just start writing.Hope you have a best seller...........

With me, if I wait until the end of the day, I never get it done. If I do it first thing or close to first thing in the morning, that means that I can get a good two pages done. My brain works better later in the day, but what good does it to have a well worked brain if you cannot find time to write? That is why I am looking to get a laptop, so I can at least take it in the front room. oh and that will not work. My husband will keep interrupting me.

I like it that I am fresh in the morning, although my brain does not kick in later, but then I have nothing to think about then until later.

I would love to do my writing in the morning, or even in the afternoon. But as I have four kids running around during the day, I have to wait until they are in the bed at night before I can continue writing undisturbed. :-)

I went through that. I wrote notes in my journal through the day, That was before I fell down the bottom of those two steps and broke my wrist.

I'm not really motivated in the mornings. I like to have my coffee, read the paper, make breakfast, check my mail and myLot and listen to the radio while I do all this. I really get going around 7pm. I'm don't watch much TV so I'm not tempted in the evening so that when I do my article writing. Sometimes a change of pace brings new inspiration. I hope that is what happened with you!

It is all about time. If I wait until the evening, there is no time or I just do it in the commercial break. If I write in the morning, I get my quota done. In other words, if I wait until the evening, I may have only enough time to write maybe two paragraphs and by that time, the computer is filled up even with me getting rid of the cache so it is much slower. Then I have to go and put what i wrote on my flash drive and there may not be enough time for that. Whereas if I get it done in the morning, then I can get it in the flash drive later on that day with no problems.

Years ago, I use to have a weekly article in one of the Sunday Newspapers. I would write at night (or many nights) as I had a full time job and then get up early in the morning to revise what I had written. Much editing had to be done as I was given a limit of so mnay words fior each article. If I wrote a story - maybe 3000 words - they may publish in two parts or publish in full depending on space avaialble. Go for whatevcer suits you. Blessings

There is so much going on in the evening, that for me the sooner I get the writing done the better. I used to write at night and revise it in the morning, but that meant I did not get ahead as much as I wanted to. This way, my mind is fresh when I start so I do not need as much correction then I would have if writing in the evening when I am tired.
