I think it's a smart thing to do, but I don't think it should be REQUIRED. I think it's the person's responsibility to get insurance, but shouldn't be forced upon them (as you probably know - it's EXPENSIVE!) I think it should be up to personal decision.

Yes. You never know when you're going to get sick and need health insurance or have your house robbed and need home insurance. You can't drive a car without auto insurance (in most states in the U.S. anyway). I think this is smart. What if you hurt someone in your car? How are you going to deal with their medical bills which you are responsible for by law? That's why I think everyone needs insurance, and I'm sure that's not all the reasons. It's just what I could come up with off the top of my head.

Depends on the situation. I definitely think everyone needs car insurance. Around here it's illegal not to have it. I have one friend who learned the hard way what happens when he doesn't have car insurrance. That was not a nice day for him, or the other pereson who was in the car with him. LOL Poor guy...

i don't think getting an insurance is a wise decision. i think it's just a waste of money. i think it's better to invest your money in mutual funds, bonds, or time deposits, etc.
