Yes, music does relax and calm us . There are alot of cd's out there for meditation and relaxation . Two of my favorites are Enya and Enigma . I love to fall asleep at night with that type of music softly playing . New age & Zen music are wonderful, and very calming

I believe it can, depending on the type of music you're attempting to listen to. Loud, energetic music isn't very calming (i don't find anyhow). Personally I believe that if you want to relieve stress and calm your senses (and nerves) the best genres of music to listen to is something soft and slow. I prefer classical music to calm me, but I also like to listen to music from the 50's n 60's as well as r&b.

I believe that energetic and aggressive music can also calm you down. Let's say you are very stressed and therefore experience some sort of depression and low energy level. Listening to some heavy music can quickly bring you energy level back up.

Music for sure calms a stressful mind. Calm or loud music does it for me, as long as the lyrics line up with how I feel it always helps me through struggles.

Yes, I listen to music a lot to calm me down. But I love music so much, I listen to it all the time. Right now I'm listening to a beautiful piece of music from The Lord Of The Rings. It's very soothing.

Yeah, music really really helpful to me. Sometimes when I feel really depressed, I play some RATM and Nirvana song and crank the volume until I feel better. And also somehow if I listen to music I can get some inspiration to my life.

I think it depends what kind of music. Listening to country music can help me. Or classical. And playing music can also help, like if I'm playing the piano. But then if I try to play the violin I usually end up just getting more frustrated because it won't come out how I want it to generally (since I haven't been able to keep up on my practicing). But yes, if I play the piano and play something that I already know usually it makes me much more relaxed.

I do as well. Music is supposed to calm the savage beast. It can destress and calm you and that is why I keep an Ipod now so I don't hear much else. Works for me just fine.

Yes, I think music really does calm a stressful mind but only if it is music that the person likes and it is soothing music not really heavy, loud stuff!

Yes,I believe so,I love music and enjoy myself everytime i put on my earphone or enter the play button,I will get exited and think about nothing in my mind,I am totally attracted by the melody and the feeling it gives me! When I am stressful,I don't feel like to do anything, and my mind can't calm dowm, then I will sit dowm or get out, play one music, enjoy myself, and it helps me everytime, when I feel myself ok,then I go back to the things,I will figure them out soon, thanks to music!

hey my friend your first discussion is here...... so as your discussion says, i personally think that music can calm a stressful mind as it has happened with me itself in my life. it also depends on the choice of music to some extent. if you are stressed and you try to listen a hard rocking number you can never get relief from your stress but if you choose a soft and smoothing number you can, but as i always say exceptions are always there.
