I was reading this wondering if the guy is just trying to slowly kill himself. Does he know what he is putting his wife through? Does he really care? Seems selfish to me! I would be changing my habits to stick around, what about you? Living his life the way he wants or not, he should be ashamed of himself for putting his wife through all of that crap. I personally do not agree with Abby on this one at all. Learn to deal with it? Please.

That is got to be bad for her emotionally for sure. I know it would be for me. My mom has been trying to get my step dad to slow down on eating because she says he is eating his way into a early grave. He is almost 300 lbs last weigh in and he is carrying it all in the belly area. His clothes are to tight and he is always complaining and my mom tells him it is cause he eats to much but that makes him eat more..He is a ex smoker. My mom it is distressing her so and that at times she feels that it would be a weight lifted off her shoulders when it happens. Free from that stress and worry and upset all day everyday..This woman I can't help.. I wish I could tell her to make a bucket list like Jack an Morgan did..Maybe if he had direction he wouldn't be adrift trying to figure out whats next..

The damage has already been done and changing his habits now will not undo that. He probably realises that and thinks "What the hell, there's no point in doing anything different, might as well just enjoy the remaining time." I don't necessarily agree with that, but that the way I'd guess he's thinking.

Ah.. well a lot of people are that way. They tend to live in the land of denial. I would have to say that my father lives in this land.. but that would be a long story that I don't care to share on MyLot. I work in a doctor's office. Once, I ran a test on a reasonably young man who couldn't do a reasonable exertion before getting tired. I suggested to him in a conversational way that exercise might be a good idea. (I'm not a doctor, I don't give medical advice.) He commented that he had no time for exercise. That, I think, is an excuse. I asked him if he really had time to have a heart attack, either.

I have only three words for his wife "LEAVE HIS A$$". I would put up with that for all of five seconds!
