A friend of mine bought me one of Doctor Laura's book so I could read it and we could take about it. What it did was bring up a lot of bad memories from my child hood so I stopped reading it.

I like to read very positive oriented books. If you are going to put time into anything, it should be good for you! Inspiring, and helpful, and something that makes you do better things for you and the ones around you! Appreciate the response.

I strongly believe in them, they are my bibles in actual fact, many a time I have bought self help books to help me whether it's a condition I have had or if I needed help with confidence, positivity or dealing with other changes in my life. I have found them highly informative, inspirational and a great help. Feel The Fear And Do it Anyway by Susan Jeffers was a great book recommended to me, ironically by a friend on this site! As was You Can Heal Your Life. I use them to help me and refer to them often. They serve a great purpose in my life and really assist in my growth.

Yes, the Holy Bible. That is my only self help book I will ever need. Everything I need to know about health, wealth, healing, relationships and family are in the Holy Bible.

THe Power of Positive thinking....I have read a bunch of self help books....basically most of them just make money for someone who tells the same story in a different way( The Secret to me is a rewrite of The Power)...but the power of positive thinking....plus the advice I heard on a radio show was to look for the good in any situation..and shrug off the bad. After I heard that the first thing that happened was I went out to my car and I had a flat tire....instead of thinking....oh crap...I have to get it fixed..I'll be late for work.....I thought.....good thing it didn't happen when I was driving down the freeway with the kids in the car! It really has done alot of me....I really don't get depressed..very seldom...I strive to think positive and when I do things so much better...and easier!

That is such a good way to look at it all. Positive is the key word to it all. I sure do agree with you, because thinking positive always does more then thinking negative. I like the last sentence especialy, better and easier....appreciate the response!

A good one that really resonates with me is Your Erroneous Zones by Dr Wayne Dyer. I liked the book so much I had to buy another copy when I went to the UK on a working holiday. Dr Dyer goes through all the different negative habits of your life that are making you unhappy and has useful advice on how to change. It’s a great book although a bit old fashioned because it was written in the 70s. It’s a bit radical in places but full of useful advice.

When I was younger I used to like to read all the self help books. I forget the name of the one that I thought was really good. Its been so long ago but it was a self help book on anxiety.
