What will the Colts be like without Harrison?

Well, it is official now that Marvin Harrison is going to be a free agent as the Colts could not pay him the money that he has been making and wanted with a new contract. What do you think that they will be like without him? I think that Peyton will have a harder time with passes as he is so used to Harrison being there for them. I think the Colts are making a big mistake by letting him go,especially with all of the new coaches and stuff this year too. It could be a sad year of football again in Indiana,I'm afraid!!

It will be sad. Do you suppose they wanted Harrison to not ask for as much money because the economy is going down hill and that they all have to make sacrifices? That could be it. I suppose normally they would have kept him.

Well, the Colts have a salary cap and I guess he was wanting more money than that. However, I think when you look at his stats and the player that he is and how well him and Manning work together, then you have to step back and see if there is a reason to pay him above the cap. It worries me that we have allowed so many players this year to become free agents and we are going to lose more than just Harrison. I don't think that the exxecs are thinking about what they are doing as a whole in letting so many good players become free agents at once.

I suppose if he were an extraordinary player, and more skillful that he should get paid over the cap designed for the ordinary player. It does not matter how much he got along with the coach, or how much the other players cooperated with him, it has to do with his ability and I do not like that other players that are not as good going independent to get salaries they do not deserve.

I agree with you. I just think that he was a good player and worth keeping. I have seen the Colts allow several to become free agents this year and I am worried about how we will play without some of them.

As much as I love Marvin Harrison, I don't think it is going to effect them that much as the season goes on. Maybe the first couple of games they will have to do some adjustments, but for the most part I think they will be fine. His production had been down the past year. Still, he was such a good guy in the locker room, and that is always something to be missed.

I know that he hadn't been in great shape the past couple of seasons, but I just think that he deserved the money that he was asking for and I sure hate to see him leave. It seems as though he and Peyton had a working relationship on the field that he almost knew what was going through Peyton's mind. I wish him the best and I hope to see him back someday!

I think they have a cap on how much they can sign each year. But I love Harrison, but how often in the past 3 years has he been able to play. Here lately hasn't he been getting injured a lot. Not only that, but at 37 he is getting old for NFL standards. And Peyton has been throwing to a lot more different players within the last 2 seasons. So maybe the Colts thought they could do with out him. But he was with us since 96 so it is sad to see him go. It was also sad to see Edgerin go to, but football goes on.

I know that Harrison has some age on him and some injuries but that doesn't mean that they should have let him go. I believe that they need to consider the game and his stats and etc. and decide that we need him. We might be able to do well without him,but I don't think so. I believe after Edgerin and Marvin, then we have to wonder if Peyton will be let go when his contract is up. He is the only one of the Three Musketeers left and it is not hard to imagine how we would be as a team without him.

Marvin Harrison was a great receiver and he will be missed. However, the Marvin Harrison of today, is not the same player that he was three or four years ago. If you take a look around the league, you'll see that no one has made a move to sign him as a free agent. The Colts will have to find another receiver to fill the void. You can't replace a Marvin Harrison, just like you can't replace a receiver like Jerry Rice. They're one of kind. Hopefully, the Colts will find someone to step-up and be the third receiver behind Wayne and Gonzales.
