Why is it that people don't like Obama... Is it because of his race... Or is it because what he believes in... Personally Obama hasn't been president long enough for me to judge him but, I do believe that by him being persident brings hope to alot of us... What do you think???

Heya's! Welcome to mylot and congratulations on being the 15,357th person to ask if people don't like Obama because he is black. My issues with Obama run much deeper than skin color or race. He has in fact already be in office long enough for me to know I don't agrea with the direction he is taking the country, I knew it even before the elections, otherwise I would have voted for him. Personaly I'm sick of the whole lot and feel they all need to be fired.

Lol, you kept count! A lot of people indeed keep asking the same question. I have to wonder why they don't do some soul searching and figure out why their only reply is that people don't like him because of the color of his skin. Why this is the only reply they can come with when questioned about their support for Obama....

I don't like Obama's policies and what he's done so far. I disagree with my having to pay for abortions overseas which is what he's put into policy that all taxpayers will be. I am upset with the way he came out on like his third day in office and announces we are closing Gitmo in six months and had no plan on how to do it and where these terrorists that are held there would go. Then he comes out a few days later still with no plan but to say well I guess it will take a year instead. It makes me sick that he stopped the trials of the prisoners. He talks as it the facility is some horrible place when in fact the prisoners are treated better than our own service men and women, as a military wife I know this is true from some friends of ours. Then caring more for the treatment of these prisoners then our safety when advance interigation tactics actually has proven to prevent attacks that would have kills hundreds if not thousands more innocent people. He's sending the wrong message to those who mean America harm, they see all this as weakness. He's been partying it up and costing us more money in cocktail parties. He signs in a stimulus bill that our members of congress voted for before they even had enough time to read it if they even cared to read it. Then he flew across country costing taxpayers millions more just to sign it and make a big speech that he could have done in Washington without wasting more money, never mind the waste in the bill itself. The markets went on a six day drop, showing there's no confidence that this spending bill will help. He doesn't give me hope not when every time he opens his mouth and says crisis 20 some odd time and about us falling into a hole we will never get out of if we don't do one crazy thing after another. I have had to call my grandmother just to make sure her heart is still beating. It's nothing to do with him being black. Actually I think that is the one and only thing that I see as a positive with Obama having been elected. It shows that all American's have the ability to succeed and the color of your skin doesn't matter. Now if he actually does something I think is right in my opinion I will give him the props he deserves, however I wouldn't hold my breath.

Hello Addybby, First, please allow me to welcome you to MyLot. I hope that you thoroughly enjoy your time here. Now to your specific question: I have never met the man. As such I neither like, nor dislike him. I do, however, passionately fear his vision for America. The combination of 'The Chicago Political Machine' reality coupled with the radical, Saul Alinsky vision of quasi-Bolshevick social reform strikes me, and a great many others, as terribly dangerous. Based on my above comments, it's unlikely that I would concur with your suggestion that Barack Obama is the bearer of hope. In fact, since the election he has acted much more like the 'portender of doom'. How many times has he erroneously compared the current day with the realities on the ground in 1929? Historically, the two are worlds apart. In point of fact, the better comparison is to Jimmy Carter's dismal political efforts of the 1970s, which I remember with depressing clarity. I find myself unable to overlook the very real possibility that this man and his Marxist ideology, coupled with the actions of our Pelosi/Reid Congress (and the help of Bush, Paulson and Bernacke) have essentially enslaved my nephews and grandson to a life of indentured servitude -- where they are required to pay off the debt of their parents and grandparents, while having no say in the proposed spending. Shame on anyone who asks our infants and toddlers to pay for our half-baked ideas!

I really don't care about the color of his skin. He could be purple and I still would not like him. I don't like his character, the way he portrays himself. I also don't like his politics. I do not believe he has the right vision for America. I also have come to see his promise of hope and change as a giant smoke screen, but it managed to get him votes, didn't it? His problem is, he didn't define hope and change and too many people pinned their dreams on him. A huge burden to carry. Impossible to fulfill. And I really did not appreciate him putting up this giant smoke screen. But people who fell for it and failed to press him on the real issues, well, they only have themselves to blame, don't they? Judging him, well, really, he ran his campaign for two years and laid out his plans and visions for us? Should his critics have idly sat by and just drink the kool-aid? As soon as he threw his hat into the ring to run for president he subjected himself to judgment of his peers, period. There is no grace period. You lay out your politics and what you want to do, and people will tell you what they think about it. Whoever said we have to wait until somebody has been in office for 100 days before anybody can criticize this person? I mean think about it, first it was, he hasn't even been elected yet, you shouldn't criticize him...wait isn't criticism and input part of the democratic process when somebody states his political vision especially if this person has ambition to be our president? Why should we make an exception for Obama? Then it was, he isn't even president yet, only president-elect... yet he made appointments, some bad once as he had to admit himself, appointing tax-evaders and lobbyists (which he said he wouldn't do)... again, why take the right away from people to speak up about their disappointment that right from the start he began to side-step his campaign promises. He also started to push for the stimulus package and voiced other political opinions. Most president-elects just appointed people to positions and left it at that. And yes, those appointments were scrutinized. Why should that be different for Obama? People can't tell him they don't like what he is doing? Again, why should we make an exception for Obama? Now that he is sworn in and has made major political decisions already, including pushing through that monster of a stimulus package which even a lot of his supporters don't like... again, we have to wait until 100 days are over before we can voice our opinion on what he is doing? Do you realize that 100 days is a very long time. A lot of damage can be done in that time frame. Granted other presidents did have it easier in their first 100 days of office, there weren't that many pressing issues. Well, tough! He works for us, promised to hit the ground running, and what he does affects all of us. Taking away the right to criticize him for his actions is taking away a major right we have here in the US. Any other person in his situation would be scrutinized as well. Again, why should we make an exception for Obama? And if you are so willing to give him chance after chance after chance... when are you done doing that? Did you really like what you saw thus far coming from him after he was elected? Are you willing to give him chance after chance after chance to try and remedy the situation, get us deeper into the hole? Have you read the stimulus bill and how much pork is in there and pay-off to his main supporters? Yep, it's in there although he promised to cut out pork.... and another 9,000+ pork item bill is currently pushed through.. without him even blinking... So where exactly do we stop? Where exactly will his supporters stop playing the race card in the face of critics and take criticism for what it is, dislike of what Obama has done for us and to us. Do you seriously believe every critic is a racist? What does that make you? A racist.

I do not have personal feelings about Obama. I do not know him personally. But I do have feelings about his policies. I do not agree with them. I believe in a small fiscally responsible government. He doesn't. So as you can see, I will not agree iwth much he does.

I liked him enough to vote for him and I like him enough to give him a chance. I do think his election brought hope to many but it can't bring a quick fix to anyone. It took us awhile and a lot of wrong choices to get here and it's going to take awhile to get out of this mess. I think he is on the right track and I hope for the sake of this country that I am right.

It is his policies that people do not like and the fact that because he happens to be part black, that many of the policies like making America most socialist will come to pass. And that is wrong. I guess it is part of the belief "born in Africa" that people are descended from Africans and so there are some who believe that those who are African descended are our natural masters and what they say is right. I do not believe that. It is just as wrong to say that blacks are natural masters and must be obeyed as it was wrong in my father;s day to say that whites, especially those with blond hair, and blue or green eyes are natural masters and must be obeyed. (oh dad fought on the side of the good guys against the nazi war machine) I hope you are not so enamored and think that he is a demigod. He might be testing the waters and saying "I want America to have Universal Health care" -among other things, but he really does not want to do it and is waiting for you all to say "no. Because I know someone who needs a rare type of medicine to cure his condition and if universal health care came about, he would be unable to get it." So I hope that you help him to be a good president, and not turn America into a socialist state. There are few free countries in the world now and if America goes -

I think many factors fall into place when it comes to people disliking Obama. The older generation does have a hard time dealing with a black president. Barrack Obama is just not a name that they associate with the United States of America. It's not a traditional American name. I know a person that is really having a hard time accepting that Obama is now president, and they complain about it all of the time. She says things like "You don't see any Americans over in Africa or any other country trying to become president!!" She is in fact of the older generation, and it is just against her beliefs. I think another reason people have a hard time accepting him, is because he has so little experience. Personally I feel like people put way too much hope in this one man, and when he is indeed unable to fulfill every promise he made, it's going to let a lot of people down. I also don't see this country heading into the right direction. I feel like we are unfortunately going to continue in a downhill spiral.
