my sister complains that when she asks her son to do something like brush his teeth, he will ask why, then if she explains,, he will still ask why, and so on. So she gets pretty irritated. How can you discipline young kids? And to help in chores and in caring for younger siblings?

Sounds like you have a pretty smart nephew hehehe. It can be pretty irritating when kids keep on asking questions but it only means to say that the kid wants to learn about things... or is smart enough to use delaying tactics hehehe. Well, we believe that younger children should be disciplined by spanking. I am not sure if that is allowed in your country, but for us, its the only language that a young child is able to understand. not to do things that will result in spanking. I think other people makes the child sit in a corner... that I don't understand why... they say it is to make the child think about what he has done... i just don't know if that works for toddlers.

I find the best thing to do is to get down on their level and make them look you in the eyes. If I don't do this for my son, he just ignores me!

..In terms of teaching the child in doing home chores and to care for their younger siblings, appropriate form of language should be imposed.. There are children who are really naughty and they can get you irritated but that's part of being young or being a child.. they are still on the stage of exploring and experimentation.. Maybe, you could start teaching the child to do home chores by accompanying them and teaching them one by one patiently.. patience is really needed in parenting.. I may not give you enough insights but as I've said earlier, it would be helpful also if you could read articles and books regarding parenting and share that to your sister..
