Banks and bankruptcy

Hi to all , a few lines on banks , i have always asked myself how can a bank go bankrupt , with all the money they have made , and where has all the money gone , what has happened and is there a good inspection on the auditing , if someone can enlight me on this subject i will be very happy to know more, thanks in advance , bignig

I was hoping to see someone enlightening you here too. Maybe this is in the wrong place.
My thoughts on the matter are that some people, many people, employed by the banks earnt way too much. All the perks and whatever during their job not to mention the golden handshake when they retired (or got the sack). No compamy could stand those amounts for long without going under sooner or later I fear.
