Have you ever forgot your login password ?

My tech said that having the same password for entering any site we've join is quite dangerous. This because if some hacker success in attempting to hack the site and acquiring people user name and password, they could hack our account at another sites with a spyware program. I've used to change my password for such an important site like Paypal and my online bank account. I'm also using the different password to login at certain sites. But, the problem is, sometimes I forgot my password for certain sites and I'm having difficulties to login. My option is to ask the site to renew my password through my email or using their security question to verify my new password. Coz I'm a forgetful person, this is kinda annoying sometimes :) Do you always remember each of your passwords ?

If I use the password usually I can't forgot it. But if some user name and password I do not often use may be I will select set a easy password to remember it.like birthday of myself or my mothers or some special day

That's a very dangerous way to write your birthday as a password. My friend boss used to use her birthday password to protect her computer, and some of her employee use this easy password to break into her computer just to snoop and and get an information of her agenda. Maybe you should change it into a more difficult password my Friend, take care :)

Are you using the same password for all of those sites ? If so, maybe you should try to write it down Tecsonnn.

You may note down them secretely in a notebook and use by referring that secret notebook. This must be a paper notebook and don't kep that loosely or carelessly. You may not enter your Paypal password in it for better security and remember it yourself. Thanks and have a good day!

You are absolutely right that if one uses one common username and password for multiple sites, this puts the person at risk should this username/password be hacked. On the contrary, if different usernames and passwords are used for different sites (and as you know nowadays, people subscribe to many different sites, including sensitive ones like their internet banking sites), there will be a lot of such information to remember. That's certainly confusing and sometimes I can't remember which few sites have which same usernames/passwords. So I record them down somewhere for reference. But do you realize also that there are other ways people risk getting their usernames/passwords stolen? A few I can think of are: (a) people keying in sensitive info via their physical keyboard. Phishing software can record such info and steal them. (b) people getting browsers to remember IDs and passwords for ease of login subsequently. These info are stored in the PC somewhere and can be hacked into. (c) people keeping their ID/password info in documents like Excel. Again hackers can get at the info....greater danger is that all the sensitive info is kept in that one document.

I use Scarabay. You can go to Freeware Home and get some free password keepers. You use a master password to enter them, and also you can use the password protector on Firefox. If not you can make a list in excel or an appropriate in rtf and make sure your firewall is working. That is what I do, because with my financial and some of my important sites I do make very complicated passwords. One time my computer crashed, and then I had to get on the sites and request new passwords. That was a bother.

That is why you have to have a good firewall. I use the regular Windows Firewall and I also use an anti keyboard logger that I got for free from Freeware Home. That way the hacker cannot see what I am writing and copy it. Also I have a router so that a hacker does not know my ip address.

You should be all right then. I started to use a keyboard logger when I discovered that I was getting email from someone with the name of one of my characters in the novel I was writing and also with that made up country that he was living in and then I figured someone could see what I wrote and what if he decided to say that he wrote my novel. Mind you it was in the fourth draft then and the agent would lave laughed him out of the office - it was that bad - but you never know.

Actually i have so many passwords i would never be able to remember them all. I keep them in an address book. Several years back i found a really nice loose leaf address book "Cambridge" brand. With a 3 in 1 printer i make my own pages. I just copy the original pages. It all works out very nice.

I am not going to tell you if I always use the same login for different sites for obvious reasons, BUT! Every time I get a new site, I have a text document saved on my memory stick and then I Never have a problem with knowing what my login username and password is in case I forget it. I hope this advice helps you and that hopefully you will never have a problem again! ;)

I don't always remember my passwords. But, most the times I do. I use an address book, just for the internet, and write down the site and what the password is, and if there is a security question, etc. So in the event that I am not sure what the password is, I can just open up my book and look it up. Good luck to you Hugs MaryLynn

Yeah, I always forget my password. i login to so many sites but I refure to use the same password for fear of someone being able to access my other accounts once one of my accounts has been hacked. So I have lots of passwords to remember and sometimes I completely forget my login name and password! I have lost my gmail and hotmail account that way. :(

Hi,,I use many different passwords. I don't use them by choice,,it's because many sites will not let me use one that I have already used..It will tell me that it is already being used and to choose another one,,It's the same way with user names.. And yes I will forget them especially if I don't go to the site regularly.. I write everyone of mine down in a note book so i can look it up when I forget it.
