Is the internet having some sort of glitch?

Many people here in myLot are complaining that their accounts have a notation saying they've been inactive for more than 60 days, when they've been very active. I do a lot of searches every day in the course of my work and I'm getting a LOT of error messages, such as the server is busy. My email provider gives me the same thing. This is only in the past couple of days. One person posted they couldn't log onto Helium. Is this coincidence or have you had trouble, too? Is it possible for the internet to be overloaded or to have problems?

It's very possible for the servers to be overloaded and when that happens servers can run slow. It happens all the time and it's really nothing to worry about. Basically it means that people won't stop making whoopie and because of that more people are being born which creates a fresh infux of people, thereby jamming up cyberspace :) I hope this very technical explanation helps you to finally understand the dilemma that we all face :) Purrs, Catwoman=^..^= & Mija

I was also having trouble getting on mylot a couple of days ago. This is usually due to a server overload (the server mylot resides on). This is caused by too much traffic and not enough bandwidth to cope with it. You resolve the problem by increasing the server bandwidth. It was also common for our ISPs to have bandwidth problems in the early days of the internet. And it still does happen. It can also simply be your phone line or cable which is overloaded. That does happen too. Every service needs to constantly upgrade its bandwidth in order to cope with an ever increasing number of people wanting to use the internet. And since more and more people are now watching videos on the internet and downloading movies... your ISP needs a huge amount of bandwidth to cope with it all.

Very good points, I was thinking that might be it. But someone else said this site has been hacked, as evidenced by so many people having "no activity within the past 60 days" posted on their profiles. Their discussions have also been deleted. I guess myLot is working on this and I hope they find the security breach. Thanks!

Yes i have noticed this 2, i too have the message of inactivity on my account and so do some of my friend i checked profile a little while ago. It also loads slowly the last few days and i think it something to do with mylot not the whole internet. Apart from this site, all others are working fine for me, so i think it's just something temporary.

That's comforting to know! My son 1800 miles away is also having a problem with websites loading slowly and getting errors, though. I hope it's only temporary.

I've only had those kinds of problems here in myLot. Apparently, a hacker has somehow gotten into myLot's database and wreaked havoc. My homepage here says the same thing, that I haven't been active for the past 60 days. Either something's wrong or I've been in a coma for at least 2 months without anyone telling me about it! Other than myLot, I haven't had problems at all with my internet connection or server. At least myLot IS working on solving the recent problems.

That's very good to know that they are working on it. I would think that they would post something to keep us updated as it affects so many of us, but they may be busy cleaning up the mess! Thanks for the info, I appreciate it!

The response above you said myLot has been hacked. I guess patience is needed from us. The rest of the internet has been slow for me, but it is probably a fluke when I consider this info that this site has been hacked.
