When you have workmen in your home do you watch them or just leave them to get on with their work

I try to keep check discretly, I am afraid I don't have any trust in strangers.

I dont watch regularly. We can guess with time whether they are trustworthy or not.

I guess I'm way too trusting for the way the things are in the world today. My husband and I are embroiled in a bad situation just because we trusted our son-in-law. When you can't trust family members, who can you trust?

It is so hard you need work done and if your husband can't be around what do you do.The problem is most of the workmen are men so that makes it difficult.and these days women are nearly as bad and untrustworthy

I am one of those who do not trust strangers alone in my house. In fact before they arrive, I put all small valuables away somewhere out of sight. Also I go in and ask if they would like something to drink plus see what they are doing. I make a bit of a joke about it, i.e. I want to know so next time I can do it without having to wait for someone else to fix the problem.

I talk to them a bit initially. I can usually tell from that how much I can trust them. Fortunately, most reputable workmen here are very trustworthy.

I'm so sorry you were robbed! I do try to put temptation out of their way, I have to say. I would never leave money or small valuables about, so I guess I do trust people less than I think.
