http://wcco.com/local/school.bus.accident.2.943540.html This one I still can't believe. According to the article the 5 year old little boy slipped and fell on the ice and was run over. The article also stated that 20 children die each year after being run over or struck by school busses. When are we going to do something? Why is it always blamed on the kids? This child was getting off the bus with his mother after his mother realized it was the wrong bus. Why could this bus driver not wait until he safely saw this mother and child on the curb? Would it have really been all that bad to wait? It's just sickening and sad.

This is terrible! I can't believe that this happens so often. Once is too many. I always wait at least one car length behind buses when they are on / off loading children. I always want to see exactly where they are with relation to my car. I certainly hope this child will have a full and speedy recovery.

I hope he recovers as well, and with no fear of going to school, etc because of his accident. It's just proof that we need to always be in the moment! Thanks for responding. Anora

People are just too impatient. I'm surprised the driver couldn't see him getting off and watch to see that he was clear before moving.

I guess I'm wondering how this little boy ended up under a bus if his mother was right there with him... Granted the bus driver should have been paying better attention but so should the mother have been. When my brothers rode the school bus when they were young, I always held their hand when they got on and off the bus to make sure they didn't fall... http://m.kare11.com/news.jsp?key=124572&rc=lo Here's an updated story printed this month about him Twoey. I agree that knowing that so many youngsters are killed every year by school busses that all of us need to be more aware both as driver and parent. It's just scary that perhaps as a parent you let your child wait like a "big boy or girl" for the bus and get on without mommy's help and that something like this could occur so quickly. Thanks for your comments. Namaste-Anora

What a sad piece of news! I so hope and pray this little boy will recover ok. I am amazed that it happens so much! It seems to me that the bus driver along with the majority of us was in too much of a hurry to move on. We're always rushing everywhere these days. You would think that after things like this happen we would all take stock and slow our lives down a bit. I know...easier said than done! Anyway my heart goes out to this child, hope he'll be ok.

Paula- Thanks for responding. Yes, we're so far in the future we forget to be in the here and now. You'd think after this we'd all learn a valuable lesson of being where we are, when we are there. Namaste-Anora

Poor child, Poor mother. I think the bus driver should be held accountable for what he didn't do that caused him to run over this child. I hope he recovers well and as you said, has no fears of buses or school. It's a shame that the driver was in such a hurry.

I agree. Most here in the state are outraged that he's not being held accountable. Anyone else would. Blessed be.
