What does SEO mean?

Hi friends, Iam getting through this word - " SEO" a lot on internet nowadays.I understand its probably something to do with Internet marketing,I guess.Now,Can I request you mylotters to explain what this term means and how important it is. Thanks in advance for responding

I have found a new SEO site where you pay NOTHING until your site gets ranked for your keywords, and it is very affordable!

I don't completely understand it so don't take my word for it. From what I understand people that own a website or blog, to get in ranked high on the search engines, they need to be search engined optimized - SEO. You use meta tags, and keywords. You have to use the keywords in your blog or website so that the search engines see them when they crawl your website. At least this is what I think. I would also like to learn more, so I hope someone else can tell us more about SEO.
