I went to the dollar store today and I saw a 20 ounce soda of dr. pepper and it was $1.25, I went over to the grocery aisle and the 2-liters were $1.25! I think that is outrageous and ridiculous. Would you buy a 20 ounce soda for that amount of money? I think the only reason I would buy a 20 ounce for that much money is if I was out, and didn't have a cup or ice, and was extremely thirsty. They have always been around a $1.00 but today was the first day that I saw them priced at $1.25, I mean that is the same price for the 2-liter!

Where I am at its $1.50 for a bottle out of the soda machine, I think they are 24oz but can you believe $1.50 and in the grocery store too as a single that is refrigerated. 2 liters are cheaper or its cheaper to buy a six pack of them for $5 and chill them yourself, that is what I do cause I take a 24oz to work every day.

Where I live, it used to be $1.19 for a 20 oz soda, in the coolers at the gas stations, wal mart and other places the serve single sodas, and the two liters were $0.99. That really made you think. Now, they are just about the same price, with our 20 oz being 1.39 and our two liters at $1.29. Some of the vending machines are charging $1.00 for a can, or more. Crazy.
I did see where our Coke products were going back to at 16 oz bottle for only $0.89 cents. But I am a Mt. Dew Drinker, so that won't help me out much, but it does my husband.

I don't mind buying things from there as long as they are priced right, and not junk. I watch what I buy there. We have two dollar stores where I live. In the one store everything is a dollar and the other store things are higher than a dollar but still pretty cheap.

i think that the prices are out of control. i don't think that it will ever get better. the price of one bottle of pop cost more because you can take it on the road and drink it and it is cold. if you buy one bottle at a time, then you will end up spending more. that is what they want

I remember when a 20 ounce bottle of pop was only $0.75, and that was even when they were still in the glass bottles. I definitely wouldn't mind it if the price would go down. Although, just like with gasoline, if people really need the stuff, they're going to have to be willing to pay that extra few cents to get what they need. Of course, sometimes I'll buy the biggest sizes of pop because it's sometimes cheaper to do it that way.

Sometimes you can catch the pop at that price. I think the cheapest I've found it was for about $0.75. That's when the store was having a Super Saturday Sale. Other times, the sale has been a dollar. I guess it's a matter of catching it when you can.

They've been $1.25 for a few years now, but it's been mostly on places like college campuses. Now it's more widespread. To answer your question, no I wouldn't buy a 20oz soda for that price as 2 liter bottles can be found for less. I know I'm stating the obvious here, but food prices are definitely up.

Dollar stores do that. They price everything around the same price. For some items, it's a really good deal because you get the item for a lot less than you'd get everywhere else! But for some items (like your 20 oz soda) it's a lot more expensive that it would be elsewhere. People don't usually notice it. Because everything is priced roughly around the same, shoppers don't analyze each every individual item and think that overall they're getting a good deal.

OH yes there are really good deals in the dollar store. That's why I go in there from time to time. I was just shocked to see that soda priced at that much money. It seemed like everything I saw in the store today was smaller as well. For instance the dish washing detergent, cat food, dog food, laundry detergent was all smaller boxes and bags but still priced the same!

Where I am, depending on which store or gas station you go to, you will pay anywhere from 99 cents to $1.39 for a 20 ounce bottle and the highest I have seen a two-liter is $1.59. Yeah, I think it is pretty ridiculous myself. I think they do it, not only to make more money, but because they know that if we are in a hurry and just want a quick drink, we will pay the price for it.

Exactly, they know they can price them that high and that's why the do it. That's almost $2.00! In certain stores that I go in I see the two liters for around 60 cents or a little higher, wal-mart is one store that has them that low. I wish everyone had them for 60 cent or lower. Usually we buy 3-liters when we go to the grocery store.

I have been going to McDonald's for soda out of their fountain. As they charge $1.00 for 32 oz. of soda. I won't pay the ridiculous price for the bottle of soda. $1.25 is just way to high.
