Hello Mylot Community. Ok So this is my first post!
Did you watch the Oscars last Sunday? What did you guys think about the winners and losers? I thought it was a good show and that the best picture winner Slumdog Millionaire was right on the money. So glad they got the acknowledgement.
So imo this year they got the best picture right, do you guys agree? What about past winners any films out there you love or hate that won?
Here a list of some of the Best Picture Winners from the past 10 years
No Country For Old Men - 2007, a little over rated imo
The Departed - 2006, pretty good film
Crash - 2005, love it
Million Dollar Baby - 2004, pretty good
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King -2003, not into these movies
Chicago -2002, didn't see it, but i don't really like musicals
A Beautiful Mind = 2001, love it
Gladiator -2000, want to see it
American Beauty -1999, love it

For me the Academy misses as much as the hit. American Beauty it was Oscar worthy and Gladiator too. LOTR series together was phenonimal and thats what they were awarding by giving it to the 3rd one. Didn't see million dollar baby. Hated Crash--Brokeback Mountain should have won that year--hands down. In my opinion if I wanted to see Crash I would just go to downtown LA. There was nothing new or unique about it. Departed was pretty good but Letters from Iwo Jima was tons better and should have gotten the Oscar. No Country For Old Men was as good as any of the other nominees. And Slumdog was definitely the best pic for this year. For the last three years I have seen all 5 of the nominees for best picture one after another the Saturday before the Oscars due to a special showing at AMC theaters. So for those years I can give an informed opinions about the best picture Oscar.
And welcome to mylot. Hope you enjoy it here.

Well I agree with Slumdog for sure. it;s a great movie with many smaller issues inside. Of course, I think that they somehow chose that movie too because it is a foreign film. I actually only tuned in tot he Oscars this year. I haven't seen the previous winners such as No Country, The Departed, Crash and Chicago.

Well, each year we have an individual bets for each category, may too has, and sometimes disappointments register in our face if our bets did not make it, me too feel the same. It feels like Oscars sometimes missed something and the strong contenders failed to win awards. I don't like Chicago, other films are more deserving to win.
