Does your dog defy "correct" training methods?

Mine does. Onyx is a year and a half old black Lab/Australian shepard mix and he is the strangest dog I've ever owned. I didn't get him until he was about 8 months old and so I've had to retrain him on some things and start teaching him new things. I've been working hard on teaching him how to heel and he just wasn't getting what "heel" meant. However, he caught on very quickly when I began using "easy" instead. He just doesn't respond to all of the traditional commands. However, his Aussie shepard instincts have come in handy as he is able to interpret certain eye movements that go along with certain commands. So it's been an interesting time with him.

My husband and i use some German words for our female dog. We've had her since a puppy so we've been able to teach her many things. Our male dog is kindof strange. We got him at 16months and had to retrain him several things, but one good one he already knew/understood was go lay down. He b-lines it straight for his cage and lays in there until you tell him his allowed to come out. He's an extremely large dog, so whenever we have company over, this is a good trick for him to do. Or if you tell him to hop on pop, he will jump over you, even if he is standing right next to you. He's probably alittle over 150lbs and he can jump a 16ft fence without a running start.

It doesn't matter what word you use. My dogs heal when I say ragli. I have trained them in Hebrew. Your problem must have been you didn't expect them to heal when you said heal, but when you said easy you were in the right frame of mind and expected them to heal and they did it. Dogs are really smart. They can be taught to do almost anything.

Nope! my cutie snow white is a bit spoiled. I've been training her several times on where to pee but it didn't help since she's a little bit stubborn like her mommy Julie hehehe... have a nice day robin55

Dogs'bathroom habits can be funny, frustrating or just downright strange. My guy knows the difference between poop and pee when I say them. He only has certain times of the day when he will do either one and has certain places that he prefers to go.
