Hi,friends. Iam very confussed recently. You know every mornig,I have to take two buses to my office. The problem is the first bus.As I get on the bus at the starting bus stop,I can take a seat then. But as the bus going, more and more passagers get on,including many old people. So I give my seats to a Grandpa or Grandma every morning, which makes me really tired everyday.Because I leaved very far from my office. It takes me two hours on the bus, that means I almost have to stand up at least one hour everyday.Iam really tired. But if we don't give my seat to the seniors,I will feel immorality, after all, it is not convenient for the seniors. So what should I do then?

I think it's only genuine politeness to give up a seat to an older person. Many senior citizens have a lot more severe health problems than you at a younger age who simply feels tired by standing. Wouldn't you gladly give up a seat to a pregnant woman without thought or bitterness?

hi Jasmine well wait until you are 82 then tell us how tiring it is for you at 22 to let someone much older have your seat? you will get'there one day.Your knees will hurt , your feet will hurt and you will wonder as you hang onto thestrap in the bus, why that young man who looks about 19 cannot give you his seat? he looks healthy, he doesnt seem to be crippled? Why must I stand heree, my legs are so 'tired? I have been your age, and traveled two buses to get to work, and yes I gave up my seat to an aged person.we hate to be called old in the US, elderly or seniors or senior citizen.old is a nasty word demeaning a person. And yes I probably resented having to do it. but as you get into your sixties you will change your mind I guarantee it.so give up your seat, pat yourself on your back, you are a thoughtful young woman.

Hi, my friend, I have ever had the same problem with you, I have a mathod now. Every time you get on the bus, you can find a seat that on the behind of the bus, usually, people get on bus from the front door, so if there are too many people, they will not push in front you, then you can seat until you get off.

Keep in mind that you ill most likely not be young and healthy forever. One day, you too may be old and/or crippled and wouldn't you like it if somebody got up and offered YOU a seat then? Give the seat to people who may need it more than you do, treat people as you too hope you will be treated. Old people, handicapped, and very pregnant ladies are much more in need of the seat than you are, ESPECIALLY on a long ride. Offering your seat is the right thing to do, and if you beleive in karma at all it is the ONLY thing to do.

I'm in from the same country like you and i totally understand your situation becaise i'm a commuter too. Well, the buses are usually too crowded to stand. and sometimes we ourselves carry heavy bags or other thngs in hand, it's very hard to spare a hand to hold the post or handle to stand steadily. so in that case, i sit. but if i'm taking a short trip i normally give my seat to seniors. for those one-hour long trip in the overcrowded situation, i don't. i have to. i feel sorry for them.

it's true. when i was in Beijing i already heard a few news about it. Young people need taking bus to work and sometimes it's a long and tiring trip. if they can have a seat so at least they can take break from the long trip. however many elderly people take the bus for the exercise. so young people have to leave the seats for the elderly people. i feel sympathy for you. i don't have good advice for you. i really understand your feeling. the only thing i can suggest you maybe ride a bicycle or save money to have your own car. i mean the car maybe not expensive, but at least you don't need to suffer the bus. sorry. no good advices for you.

Ur reponse is a piece of good advice itself... can we let all the old people take a bus by their own, I mean a bus for the seniors and a bus for our youth.... so they will know how crowded to take a bus at so early moring, so they will give up taking a bus at so early morning...and at the same time, will they share seats with each other at the same ages?

I take the bus to so I know what you mean. We have certain seats up front that are marked for handicapped and seniors. I try to sit in the back but sometimes the bus gets packed were people have to stand. I have giving my seat up before but not always. Sometimes I wait and hope somebody else gets up first.
