Best Responses to your discussions

How long do you wait before choosing a best response? If more people respond do you choose a new one to be the best repsonse? How many of your responses to other people's discussion have been chosen as a best response? Do you click on the plus or minus when you visit someone's discussion? I just learned about the ranking today though I have not chosen any best responses yet. Should I wait to see how many people visit my discussion?
