Old Clothes Dilemma

Here is the thing. I have a lot of clothes in my closet that I don't use anymore. I used to hand clothing like these to my sister when we were younger. But now that she's more mature and has her own sense of style, she won't accept my hand me downs since they are not her type. I want to give other clothes away but I also thought about making money about them at the same time. Do you have any suggestions on what I should do? Is a garage sale okay? But the problem is that there isn't too many people here where I live. I would love to hear from you fellow mylotters.

The best to do is to give it away for charity. Over here, we send old clothes to churches to be distributed to rural area where people live in poverty. But if you want to make some money from it, probably you can sell it to second hand shop but they don't take it with high price and also your clothes must be in a usable condition. Good luck.

Yeah I doubt that I would get a good price when I sell it to second hand shops though. I would try looking for other ways. Thanks so much for responding.

Well alot of my clothes that i have go to friends and family that arent so wealthy and i know they need the clothes. I also have given clothes to the local goodwill so they can sell them. Also if you have some consignment stores around town they might accept them and you also sometimes can make money that way. If you are only selling clothes at a garage sale you might not get many people coming to it. Also another way of getting rid of them and making money is try and sell them on a local website that doesnt charge yo uto post. If you have craigslist.com around your town then you can try to sell them on there. Hope this helps you out, Happy Mylotting

I haven't heard about that site yet and I don't know if that is available in my country. I might try posting them in a website though like in Multiply and maybe people would purchase them. Thanks for the advice :)

If you can't have a yard sale... then why don't you try selling the nice items through ebay... some people make money doing that... but of course you need to have a paypal account and an ebay account to do that... I have never sold any or my old clothes before... most of the time... i just give them away to charity...

If you need the cash you might consider ebay, or a consignment store. If not then document what all you have and take it to a charity. I say to document it becuase you may be able to use it as a tax deduction depending on the tax laws where you live. (better safe than sorry) If you donate it and care who it goes to then take it to a local church. Many of the national organizations (Salvation Army and some others) ship clothes over seas when their stores are stocked.
