I started as a Mary Kay beauty Consultant, I'm trying to get out there and get some leads, I've set up makeover boxes for women to drop their name and number into for free makeovers. Well this isn't working very well, I've tried to few different places, and My direcotr and other women on my team say that they get over 20 names a week and they have thier boxes in resturants and different clothing stores, so do I. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG!!!! I've had a few orders but not much, maybe it is the weather I don't like to go out to much in the winter in wisconsin either, so I'm hoping that with summer it will get better.

I used to sell Mary Kay. My Director told that to me to all the time. My director was very nice she helped me until I made my debut and then I could never get her on the phone and she would brush me off at meetings. I stopped selling Mary Kay cause it severally messed my face up. I devolped moderte/serve acne and got a fugal infection on my chin from the microderm kit that took a year to get rid of. I did not feel comfortable selling something that did that to my face. This all happened with in my first year so I was able to sell most of if back to the company and get some of my money back. Have you set your website up yet? I got my first few order that wasn't from my family was a women that had recently moved to my area went on the marykay website to find a consultant popped in her zip code and found me. My director gave me a tip one time, she would go to day cares and talk to the moms there and suggest a moms day out to them. She would ask the lady she was talking to round up a couple of her friends and host a party and she would come over to her home and give make overs. As the host she would get a discount if she decided to purchase anything. She got alot of clients this way. I think you will have better luck in the spring cause that's when every one wants a new look, and then you'll also have the new look that come out during spring from Mary Kay. I always liked there spring looks. I wish you all the best.

yes I did set up my website, I'm trying the velocity and it seems to be working ok, I just started on some new medicine also so I'm not sure though if it is the meds or the product breaking me out, I think it might be the meds because It is on my chest also. I will see when I stop them. thanks for the feedback!

i have heard several feedback about mary kay majority told specially those who experience the product of mary kay that marykay has its side effect...it causes damage on face surface, some told that the more they used mary kay the more they get older..i just don't know if they are really telling the truth or this is just a black propaganda for the product some other says they their face cause burned.

hi, Dwcorona, I used to be a top 11 sales rep in Avon in China area (among thousands of sales reps). so here i'd like to share some of my personal experience. No.1 : A good sales person must have confidence in her product. The confidence exhibits quite unconsciously in front of your customers. I used to try every product though there are hundreds of them, i either try them in company, try those free samples, for instance, the lip sticks, i first learn what those color really look on people's lips and other makeups. Since i tried them all the time, i know which are really good, which are just average and which ones are not so good. Then I tell the truth to customers. No.2 : I used to spend at least 40 minutes before i step out my door. I make up my face carefully, of course with the product i sell so that i can demonstrate to customers anytime. Like, look at my eyelash, yeah, sure, they would find how gorgeous my eyelash look and surely some of them buy my mascara. No.3 : Better be a good listener instead of a talkative person. To talk all the time only serves to make your customer dislike you and in the meanwhile, you don't actually know what they need. A top sales person must be good at dig out customer's need and even creat their need !!! Remember this ! No.4 : to be professional. I used to read books on cosmetics, fashion, and management and sales. A qualified and excellent sales person must be knowledgeable so that customers like them, accept them and consequently accept their recommendation. No.5 : Never put money in the first place. sometimes, i even disuade my customer to postpone to buy my product until they almost run out of it. I did it heartly, and my customers were pleased that i concern them and their money more than they did. wow, three-year sales experience is really a long and treasurable story. Here, i only name a few and hope my personal experience may help.

Well it will probably be slower for awhile. But hopefully after you build up a bigger client base and your popularity grows then things will change. If by mid summer your business hasn't blossomed, then it may be time to decide what you can do to improve it. Good luck!

I am a consultant in Estonia :) We sometimes make some client days together with other consultants and it is a great way to get started...It gives you a chance to look other consultants and learn from them and also you can sometimes show your clients some products that you don not own yet. A good way to get leads is social networks like facebook etc. Make some adds to your friends and ask them to share...give some presents or just make a make up competition...people who take part are already interested :) Also if they have to make some pictures and upload these on their profile also, then their friends are already involved...now you just have to attract them too :) Good luck :) And let me know how it worked out :)
