"We've taken care of everything The words you hear, the songs you sing The pictures that give pleasure to your eyes. It's one for all and all for one We work together, common sons Never need to wonder how or why." 1976, RUSH released their mammoth 2112 album. Side A was taken up completely by a single song chronicling a society where the powers that be decided for themselves what was best for the masses. No one ever felt bad for not being included because, by design, everyone was exposed to exactly the same music, art and ideas. There were no arguments over petty things like music or politics because there were no choices to be made about them." "Look around at this world we've made Equality our stock in trade Come and join the Brotherhood of Man Oh, what a nice, contented world Let the banners be unfurled Hold the Red Star proudly high in hand." http://www.stlyrics.com/songs/r/rush3337/thetemplesofsyrinx560011.html In the name of “equality”, peace and contentment was achieved by mandate. Everyone was treated the same because everyone was considered the same. The insignificant differences between people were rooted out of the society by removing the vile thing that caused so much contention in the ancient world…. Freedom of choice. The song was based on the novel “Anthem” by Ayn Rand. The symbolism was different, but the basis was the same. Anyone willing to question or stand up to the powers that be were considered the enemy of peace and contentment and treated accordingly. I can’t help but see this attitude in our society today. We have two major parties, neither of which have the US Constitution or the freedom of the people at heart. Both are simply out to be the same “powers that be” we read about in Anthem and hear in 2112. We have celebrities today calling for us to pledging allegiance to Prs. Barack Obama. Not the US, or our Constitution, and definitely not to our flag, but to a man who happens to have been elected President of the United States. The House and the Senate have both recently voted on the “Stimulant Package”. The package was written and debated by Democrats only, no Republican Senators or Housemembers were allowed to take part in it. The floor vote was called without time to discuss, debate, or even read the 1500 page bill. The powers that be in the houses of Congress simply presented it and demanded a vote. In our government, Senators are the voice of each State and Members of the House of Representatives are the voice of We the People at the federal level. When Pelosi and Reid chose to limit the debate to the hand picked committee that put the bill together, they abused their power to literally and completely silence the Us! They were in all reality the “powers that be” in the song 2112 and the book “Anthem”. Now Prs. Obama has signed the bill into law. In doing so, he put his name to the silencing of the States and the people. Not only that, but he proved himself to be a liar. In his Blueprint for Change, he promised 5 days of “Sunlight” before signing bills into law. Not only won’t this bill have 5 days of “Sunlight” for us to read and discuss the details of the bill, the bill has been ram rodded through so quickly that those voting on it have been prevented from even knowing what they are voting for. Obama didn't help write it, nor did he read it... but he did sign it. We are the Priests of the Temples of Syrinx Our great computers fill the hallowed halls. We are the Priests, of the Temples of Syrinx All the gifts of life are held within our walls. Or is it We are the Priests of the Temples of Obama Our great computers fill the hallowed halls. We are the Priests, of the Temples of Obama All the gifts of life are held within our walls. "With an iron fist in a velvet glove We are sheltered under the gun In the glory game on the power train Thy kingdom's will be done And the things that we fear are a weapon to be held against us..." !The Weapon~Rush http://www.mp3lyrics.org/r/rush/the-weapon/ Will our fear of inequality or social injustice become the weapon used against us and our freedom?

ParaTed, How do you cook a frog? Do you throw him into a pot of boiling water? No! He would just hop out immediately. Instead, you put him in a pot of cold water and slowly heat it to a boil. By the time he realizes his dilema, it's too late, he's already cooked! This is a perfect metaphor for what is happening or I dare say what has BEEN happening for the last 30 years in Washington. We have been slowly "cooked" and now that we can see (many of us) what is happening, I fear it may be too late. We are now on the fast track to the proven failure of government which is socialism and I for one am at a loss about how we can prevent it!

The metaphor of the frog was a good one, but that time is passed. The frog is cooked. The Central Committee (Obama, Pelosi and Reid) have shown that they are going to do whatever they want without regard to the states or the people.

AWE man! Invoking the great ones! I LOVE this album, absolutely epic work, my favorite by Rush with out a doubt. Overture ans Presentation, probably my favorite tracks. Anyway, on to the topic. You raise a great point Ted and in a very sharp and acurate way. It is looking more and more orwellian. The people have all but forgotten in this country the place and function of the federal government and in doing so, have allowed it too to forget or worse, ignore it's place. SO once again I will launch my usual mantra to try and remind people of something. The federal government was created out of contract, BY the states, as an agent of the states and to be subservient to the states, with very limited and specificly defined powers under the constitution. They are, and have been, in breech of this contract and we have, in effect, allowed the servant to become the master. Yet we allow it to continue to exist. Wih a number of states now drafting a sovierngty resolutions, reafirming and asserting their 10th amendment authorities, including mine, a critical mass is going to be reached. The one my state is drafting goes as far as to lay out consiquences for the federal government should they remain in violation of this contract. Those consiquences being the out right disolving of the federal government and the states assuming control of the nation untill a new federal government is established under the constitution. [b] So, washington, consider yourself officialy on notice and sufficiantly warned. Comply or you will be dismantled.

So very true. Sadly the enemies of the US Constitution have been fairly successful at convincing many Americans that the US Constitution shouldn't matter.
