I use dust covers for my computer system. I cover my PC whenever i don't use it. We should not use them when we are using the system as the heat generated in the PC doesn't come out if it is covered.

When I got my first computer I used dust cover every time I turn off my computer and go to sleep. Now I have my second computer I don't use it anymore. But I do clean up my computer once a month.

I don't use that kind of thing and my computer gets dirty very soon. Always I will wipe it with a rag. Maybe i'll consider buying dust covers too.

There are no side effects as such but you should not cover the back of a desk top and key board of a laptop while working because heat dissipation takes place from these places. If you cover the back heat will start building up in the system and the hard disk/motherboard can crash.
