Do you remember how old when your children watch the movie at the first time?

My child has not been to the cinema to watch movie before. I am thinking about when it's the right time for him to go to the cinema. As it is not easy for a small child to stay well in the same place for a long time. Since the cinema is dark, I am afraid whether he doesn't like it or not. It will be too embarrassed if we have to leave the cinema earlier because of our child. I am looking forward to a right movie for him. Perhaps the Transformers 2 will be a nice one. I find there are no more movies that are suitable for kids to watch today. This is also a problem.

I think the first time i took my daughter inside a movie house was when she was like 11 months old... and we watched Spiderman 3... she did not actually watch... but slept the whole time... and the last time was when we watched Madagascar 2 and she just played in the movie house... and watched only for a few minutes...

My youngest was 5 the first time we went to the theater. He did really good he watched the movies and did not disrupct anything. My youngest is almost 6 and I have not been brave enough to take her yet as she talks all the time and I am afraid she would disrupt the movie.

My son was in kindergarden when he first went so he was around 6. He really liked it now we go together about once a year, the cinema is so expensive.

My oldest son was 5 yrs old when he first went to the theaters. My youngest was actually only a year old. Both of them were wonderful in the theaters. We went and saw Happy Feet. The movie sucked them both in and they stayed in their seat the entire time. I was 7 yrs old when I went to my first movie. Just make sure the movie you are going to see is something that your child really wants to see. Or you could try an "at home" movie theater night and try and see how they are without moving. Get out the popcorn and a drink and try it out.

Yeah, this is why I am looking for a suitable movie for my child. I don't want he will get bored and force to stay in the cinema.

I have no child now. But I still remember the first time that I watched the film when I was young. Maybe it is when I was 10, I was a pupil of grade 4. We were organised by our teacher to go to a cinema.

My parents liked to bring me to the cinema when I was very little, before I went to school. Perhaps I behaved well

I don't have children, but i remember my own childhood. I think I was about 3 years old when 101 Damantions came to our local theatre, and my mother took my sister (age 7) and I to see it. It was a great movie. My sister probably went to movies when she was much younger than 7, that's just the first time I remember us going to the show.

I took my son to see finding Nemo when he was 2. He was totally mesmerized by big TV and stayed in the seat whole time.

Your post reminds me about the time my dad took me to the movies.I was a year and half. My dad had put me in a cgair and then he went to get some popcorn. Well I cried and cried. In fact I cried so much that he had to take me home. The movie was Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. He never saw the film. I have. In fact I own a copy of it.The first film i remeber seeing was a movie I saw in school. I was aabout 7 or 8. It was about a rhino. My mom saw her first film when she was 11.so I guess depends on the child. If he can sit for at least 90 minutes, the average time of a film, then he is ready to do to the movie.

Hmm... there are lots of movies that children would have loved to watch. And whether they can stay long in the cinema or not will really depend on the show that the child is brought to. If the child can sit in front of a TV all day watching something they like, I am sure they can sit down to a 90 min show if they like the show as well. Right now, the Dragonball: Evolution would be a good one to bring children to. The other one that may interest them may be the up and coming Street Fighter: The Chun Li Story. Or Feng Yun 2, the animated movie is coming up soon. I am sure you will be able to find something that your son will like to watch and you would enjoy the same movie too!

Hmm... the few movies I mentioned are not suitable as well? I went to watch DragonBall:Evolution recently and found it to be pretty child friendly. They are not screening that movie in your local cinema?

These movies are not released yet. I think the movie like Kungfu Panda, Ice Age and Robots are good for children. Especially Robots, I think it's very encouraging. It's silly that it made me drop tears

The problem is the cinema doesn't usually have a suitable movie for children.

My daughter went to the theatre when she was 2 and a half to see the Little Mermaid. She loved the movie so we thought she would be good to sit there. However my son was more active and he didn't go till he was 5 years old. My young who was able to sit for longer times went when we was 4 and had no problem. But if the movie is long and boring it is hard for even me to sit there. So I think it depends on the child and the kind of movie they see that should make the decision

youless, If your child is between 3-5 years old, I think you can save the money on getting a seat for him. Because, he may just get scared and overwhelmed with the cinema's environment. The best advocate will be to have him sit on your lap and have his favorite snack and refreshments to keep him occupied and enjoying himself. Just beware of the loud volumes being amplified in the cine hall. Take care.

youless, On the contrary, you can bring him but just don't another individual seat just for him. Have him be seated on your lap to him feel comfortable and secure. Have a nice day.

When my boys were 3 and 4, I brought them to watch Wall E, they enjoyed it and were behaving during the show (I had my youngest sit beside his dad to make sure he will behave hehe). It was their first time but they handled it pretty well, better than I expected actually. There was one kid who cried when the lights were turned off, I guess he was afraid of the dark, my kids were busy eating their popcorns and drinking their iced tea hehe

i think i started i taking my kidz to the movies once i find them capable of watching something quitely for an hour or so.. the easiest would be animations - so i started taking them to movies like IceAge, Madagascar.. and later movies like Spiderman, Narnia.. and i usually take the aisle seat, nearest to the exit.. so if they start to get restless or bored.. i could take them out awhile, and come back in whenever they're ready to sit quitely again...

hi youless, actually my son has never been to moviehouses too, he's 3 and a half years old and i think at his age now,he might just run away to the cinema because he's afraid of the dark maybe i'll just wait till he's ready and not afraid anymore.

I was seen the ERRA SAINYAM(red warrior) movie when i was 10years old. I watched that movie with my parents. It is still moving in front of my eye. Each and every scene is remembering in that movie.(This is also ur one year back discussion)
