Perfume today is not made from flowers but from toxic chemicals. It's about as romantic as hazardous waste. More than 4,000 chemicals are used in fragrances. Of these, 95% are made from petroleum. No agency regulates the fragrance industry, yet perfume chemicals are as damaging to health as tobacco smoke. Exposure to scented products can cause exhaustion, weakness, "hay fever" symptoms, dizziness, difficulty concentrating, headaches, rashes, swollen lymph glands, muscle aches and spasms, heart palpitations, nausea, stomach cramps, vomiting, asthma attacks (inability to breathe), neuromotor dysfunction, seizures, and loss of consciousness. I love perfume extremely and yesterday i just bid hard to win a 200ml big perfume and i'm aiming another two bottles , each 100 ml. gosh, I'm really risking my health on this. my mom used to warn me but i never listened. I'm gonna faint !

burn insence, they might get some that smells so much better, or even candles in your home, would do wonders for your home, but you can also get into good smelling body washes and hair products, most of the times thats all i use, and i smell good all day long, and when you move your hair around, the fagrance seeps though your hair and into the air and you can smell it.

I found out about this some time ago and since then have only used essential oils, like rose oar lavender. This works well and i have people who remark how nice I smell. It's a lot less expensive also.

I read about this years ago, and I hardly ever wear scents anymore. If I do, it's usually in the form of essential oils, which are pure and natural from nature. I know perfume can really bother some people in a negative way. I know people who one whiff sends them into an asthma attack, and some that get severe headaches and nausea. It's a shame they don't try and make more of perfumes using natural substances. Read about a study, not too long ago, about those plug in air fresheners, and the spray ones, doing the same exact thing to people.

I wish people would take things like this seriously. I cannot wear or be around perfumes because they gag me, but try to tell that to people and they think you're just being "over sensitive." These chemicals are dangerous to the human body.

Good day... I think the health authorities should look into this. I worried about the long term effect of these chemicals. I mean people who love using perfumes might one day be suffering from all kinds of debilitating illnesses and well it would decrease their quality of life and of course the financial burden that comes along with it.

We should pay for everything . For example, you get fragrance of perfume, but you may risk your health. So when you really want to do something, just do it and try your best to enjoy yourself. It deserves ,if it can bring you joy.

really? i was never aware of that before. thank you for posting it here and sharing the information. i have hay fever / allergic rhinitis and have never been a fan of perfumes, all my life. and now i'm glad. I mean i don't buy perfumes before i just prefer some baby cologne - the smell is not too strong, and it's gotta be mild and perhaps hypoallergenic to most people. I hope i'm not being misled here. What if the baby colognes I'm used to buying have the same ingredients and effect on healthy as those commercial perfumes out there... geez

I've been born and raised with perfume, not that I'm saying I stink, and I couldn't bear the thought of not wearing body sprays, colognes, or perfumes. Maybe the people who suffer from those symptoms are allergic to it.
