Some people will be able to fit in a vacation this year and may not be so affected by the economy as others...do you plan to go on vacation this year or will you skip it this year and try to plan for something at another time...
We have an annual camping trip at my uncles property every year, has been going on for about 20 yrs or so... we will do that but othere than that I am not sure if we will get an actual vacation this year.

At some point this year I willbe visiting my mother. She in in UK and I am in Italy. She is 90 now and I try and go twice a year, each time for at least a week. That is my vacation as there's no place like home

Travelling in Europe by plane is very cheap and that's how I manage to go twice. I prefer to break it up into two shorter trips rather than one longer one and because of the low cost it's feasable too.

These are difficult times and to squeeze in a vacation is perhaps the last thing on our minds. But the past year was so hectic that I had to get away to unwind and start afresh. i live in the east coast, so I took off to Las Vegas with my family. Luckily the travel package I got from priceline.com was affordable and I just took it. Fortunately, I was lucky to win some money in the casino and the trip paid for itself. Plus the time I got to spend exclusively with my family away from the daily monotonous routine was priceless.

that is so great you got to go.... I know, it is tough times right now and extra money from anywhere would be best to either save or go towards bills... but sometimes you need the mental break.
thanks for the response.

I went on a vacation in June 2008 and so I needed another for early 2009. So I just about managed to afford to take my toddler son to South Africa in January. We visited Cape Town and the Garden Route. I was summer time there and so the weather was quite hot. I am currently 25 weeks pregnant so I will wait until June 2010 to go to Canada. Although knowing what I am like I wonder if I will wait until then. I adore traveling and have lots of places on my travel wish list for the future.

It's been a while since My husband and I have actually taken a true vacation. Last one we took was in 2006, when we went to Key West. My sister and her husband are going to Las Vegas to celebrate their 10th Anniversary, and want us to join them but with the price of flights from where we live to Vegas, it's still up in the air. Not to mention finding a baby sitter for our two children, as my sister and her husband are doing an adults only, deal. If we don't get to go, then we'll plan something like short weekend trips with the kids to muesums, parks, and little things that are cost worthly.

right now I would love to do the little weekend things, but it might be more possible next year I hope.
Key west is one of the places we went on our honeymoon... back in 96... hmmm, I am sure it has changed a bit by now!! LOL
thanks for the response, and good luck with possibly going to Vegas!!

We've yet to do anything with the kids this year so far. Our vacations seem to be going to see family in my home state which ends up being boring for the kids.
Oh key west was awesome, I loved it. Would love to go back, we drove it from South Carolina down there and would do it again.
Thanks, good luck with your family camping adventure this year, that's one of the few things I've never actually done, went camping, inless you consider sleeping in a tent in my back yard when I was 8 camping, lol.
