what makes you truly happy? not just the flash-in-the-pan kind of happy, but the long-term, warm heart feeling happy? is it nature's beauty? hard work? physical or mental challenges? love of a child? what makes you truly H A P P Y ?

God does. The joy of the Lord is my strength. I love to sing, sing, sing.

Oh yes, the creation is usually what gets me singing! The winter snow as it softly settles on the ground and everything goes to sleep. It's reflecting qualities. Even when the sun goes down it still is light outside. The beauty of a tree budding in the spring and the different shades of green on any given tree. The beauty of a new-born colt running through the pasture, or the bleating of a baby lamb. The sun shining through the clouds with rays of light spreading out all over the sky. The gentle breeze coming off a calm ocean as you walk along a sandy beach. The beauty of a flower blooming in a meadow and the bees and butterflies flitting around. Don't forget the humming birds. Finally, those fat turkeys that take off from the roof of our house every night to sleep in the tree tops. How do they do that as they sway in the wind.

I read somewhere that If I could ask God for one wish what will it be and I answeres it without batting an eyelash--happiness. Why happiness? because my happiness includes everything and everyone I needed in my life. My longtime boyfriend growing old with me, my family being financially and physically well, myself being spiritually and emotionally matured--that's my happiness. They say that you should not wait for it to be happy for me I'm journeying to be completely happy.

There are so many different kinds of happiness and I think that I can find happiness in each of the things that you suggested in your post. The one thing that does make me consistently happy is nature, particularly the ocean. I love everything about it and when I'm walking barefoot on the beach, the waves seem to have the power to transport me to a place of perfect peace and happiness.

What I am going to say is not only for me or you but everybody. True happiness can be gained by helping some one who would not be able even to thank you for your work. Try to do it and then tell me. Try to help an unknown person without telling him or help a blind man cross the road (he may say 'thank you' but he doesn't know who helped him!).
