i didn't know that what I was doing is called speedreading. I learned by myself to read a line then the second backwards the third normal etc etc. And I read only the main words..I don't read the, a, etc.. I will read let's say The road is wide on the highway..I will read.. road wide highway..and skim over the, is on the.. No wonder I could read like a house on fire my teacher used to say..hahaha

So that's how speed reading is done! I had a school teacher that taught in a one room school house in Kentucky once tell me that he could read upside down better that right side up. That is because he was always looking at the students work upside down. Going through dyslexia was seeing "was as saw and saw as was" or "no as on and on as no." Now that really helps a sentence to make sense.

yes..that is exactly how speedreading was done..I thought was a waste of time reading all those words so I stuck to main words and would do it back wards too hehehe..

That is facinating to me, DancingRedFeather1. I actually am working on learning to speed read. I am very much a detail person and I love words so I slow down and linger when I'm enjoying details or stumble on a word I find interesting. While I believe details make things more interesting, there are times that I wish I could skim over them a little more than I do. I've been a slow reader all my life, but I often get more out of what I've read than others seem to. Wish a could learn to strike a balance.

It sure is, my mom taught all to read that way..so we were not bored in school as it was fast and easy once we got the hang of it..even the teacher accused me of lying until I proved it to her. practice practice practice...just skim over the articles..just keep your eyes on the big words..

Do you read books like that? If you do, can you understand what the book is about, or do you get lost?
