I have attended mass yesterday. And after the mass, there will be a teaching by Bo Sanchez. So let me share you this interesting story that was discussed there. Julie and Maria Julie is miserable. Peering from her window, she's looking at dark rain clouds. In a gloomy voice, she says "Oh, woe is me, it's raining again. I won't able to walk out on the streets and enjoy the rain! what a terrible day!" When she was a little girl, Julie loved frolicking under the rain, But her mother scolded her saying, "It's raining Come back in the house now or you will catch cold!" Julie had no choice but to say indoors-bored and lonely. And so even now that she's grown up, the rains makes her feel miserable. Beside Julie's home lives her neighbor Maria. Maria looks out of her window and sees the rain. She smiles and her eyes twinkle. When she was a little girl, Maria and her mother frolicked under the rain. She remembers her mother often said, "Don't let the rain steal away your joy. Don't let any problem steal away your happiness! You're too special and beautiful to be miserable!" So now that Maria's grown up, every time it rains, she remembers her mother. Sweet memories flood her heart. Her mother was always cheerful no matter what happened. Yes, even when it rained. Maria wears her old sneakers, opens her umbrella, and walks out into the rain. She hops around the potholes giggling, feeling like a little girl again. "What a lovely day!" maria says as she dances in the rain. One situation, Two different reaction. How about you, Are you Julie or Maria?

Lovely story red! I can honestly say that I am a Maria. When my son was small and the weatherman would forecast 'bad' weather because the rain was coming I would explain to him that is is not bad for everyone. The farmers need the rain as do the flowers and the trees. Also when he was small he was frightened of thunder just the same as was a small boy I was baby-sitting at the sea a couple of years ago. I told my son and the little boy not to worry, it is nothing to be frightened of, just the clouds having an argument to see which one could move the fastest across the sky. The mother of the little boy was amazed that he no longer feared thunder and my son, who is now 30, can still remember those things I would tell him. There is a positive side to everything. We just have to find it

Hi red, A great idea for a discussion, thanks for this. I wish I could say that I was like Maria, but I'm afraid that I'm more like Julie. For some reason rain depresses me and although I'm not sure why, it probably goes back to some experience in my childhood. This story shows clearly how these things happen and that even the smallest happenings in our childhood can have a big affect on our adult life. Blessings.

I'm, Maria.. lol =D Because i simply loved the rain and i treat it like my fren knowing that it will never harm me.. hehe ^_^ SAme like problems in life, i will face them right on and solve them fast.. THere's no point in hiding away from it for it will come back again in the later stages in life ^_^ IT's something like phobia, face it and get it over once and be done with.. AFter which, one will only have mnore joy in life, rather than always having something to fear ^_^
