Does a high LOTTERY JACKPOT trigger you to buy tickets?

It happens about 10 times a year where the Lottery (Powerball) will make it to a 100 million dollars and this week everyone has been flocking to the convenience store for tickets now that our lottery is at 175 million but for some reason that is just not enough for me. I have the mood strike me at the strangest times but alot of times I'd rather use an extra couple bucks to go toward a toy the next day. I thought your odds are severely impossible the higher it goes but at the same time I get it, I would rather have a higher jackpot in the hopes the state wouldnt take it all out in taxes. What about you, what you in to buy a LOTTERY TICKET? Im gonna cross my fingers and wait for it to get to 220.

I typically buy a few more during the bigger jackpots. We also put together a pool at work when it gets larger. It's easier to get $5 out of each person if the jackpot is higher.

i heard a story about 5 coworkers pooling and winning a jackpot on TLC, seemed like they were the ONLY ones who held on to their money for longer than a month. Thats a whole new topic, anyone?

A high jackpot actually puts me off buying a ticket. I would be much more likely to buy a ticket if there were more chances of winning a smaller prize. A high jackpot just emphasises the fact that nobody won it last time!

good point, to me that you have a much better chance with the local lottery than the big Powerball which i think is in 21 different states

It must cause a lot of people to buy more tickets - because gas stations were crazy packed and the jackpot kept going up - that means people are buying lotto tickets....I personally would be totally happy with one million dollars (after tax) - I don't really need a BILLION - that seems excessive! Especially when your odds get smaller and smaller...

personally i dont buy tickets if am honest, but saying that am not really a gambler i might enter our lottery maybe half a dozen times a year as abit of a laugh he he he tho I do know people who rush to get their tickets and are depressed if they dont get their numbers on in time, but to be honest just dont see the appeal of the lottery as chances of winning are tiny. but gotta be in it to win it i guess just not for me, good luck,

Though I never played Lottery as it is legally not allowed in my country. Though, I am sure that a person who is buying lottery tickets wants money and that's also by chance and luck without any labor. The psychology says that this type of person will always lured to buy the concerned tickets if the JACKPOT has been substantially increased. If I would be there playing this then surely I would be buying lottery if the money expected is more.
