It's snowing, and it's hell on our DirecTV satellite TV!

Around where I live, it's snowing!
Now normally, this would've been a good thing since not only do I get rarely ANY snow at all, but this also means snowballs, snowmen, snow angels, catching snowflakes on your tongue and that other Christmas-related stuff, but this was also a bad thing.
Now don't get me wrong. I like snow as much as the next MyLotter, but this was absolute hell for me since i'm the only one whom my sister and mom asked me to go around to the back of my house...
(oh great, my nose is feeling the icy hell! ::sniff:: ::sniff::
)
...to get the hose and spray down our brand-new DirecTV satellite TV service of the snow that gathered around the dish. Unfortunately I wasn't prepared, so I went out there the first time without a jacket OR gloves. The hose was already disconnected from the spigot thingy, so I had to connect it during the snowfall, not to mention that I had no socks on and my shoes AND feet were starting to get all wet.
The second time this happened after the DirecTV dish's reception got screwed up, I got my jacket on, AND a hat to protect my head. After the TV went back on, I had to pee outside, and I noticed that the pole lights were going off, and so I had to hurry back inside as fast as possible just before something bad happens. Inside the house, the lights were flickering. My other older sister had a power outtage near where she lived, but not my place.
Not yet.
The third time I used my jacket's sleeves to cover my hands instead to spray the snow off the dish, and it worked for a while. I alternated hands since Jack Frost's fangs started nipping at my hands AND nose. Painful as hell, let me tell you. My older sister who was in the house said it was the last time, yet it wasn't. I already knew it as such.
The fourth time, I hosed the dish down of my own free will. This time I had my socks on, yet it was still cold. After that, no more! I've already had enough of going in and out fixing the snow-covered satellite TV, and i'm almost on the edge of getting a THIRD cold (head/chest cold)!
This goes to show that winter snow can be a double-edged, freezing sword of ice. It can be a good thing (having fun in the snow, snow days, etc.), and a bad thing (hosing down satellite TV dishes, a chance of getting colds, slowed-down movement, etc.).
I swear, there ought to be battery-powered warming devices or battery-powered heaters already for winter snow and snowstorms like these!
While I get a chance to warm up before I freeze myself to an early death, if you have DirecTV or a satellite TV provider, or if you've had good/bad snow experiences, what were they?

Hi,
I would have told your family to do themselves. Why do you have to hose the dish, I'm guessing it's out of reach of just sweeping it off? I would think hosing it off in cold weather would only cause ice to possibly form, that is if it's cold enough. If your not watching the t.v., then it shouldn't be your responsibility to clean it off.

There may be some truth to what you say in that, but I wouldn't say that to them unless it was a last resort and if I get something bad from it. If I did get a third flu, THEN i'd tell them.
Oh, and a big update:
Yesterday, just minutes after I posted this topic here, the lights went out and we had a power outtage.
As I said, the pole lights were going out, and that must've been a bad sign so that means that the power's going to be out soon so i'd better do something quick and get inside.
However, I was VERY well prepared! Haha!
I spent some of my SSI money in an external battery pack for my netbook (the iRecharge by Cellboost), LED lanterns, and both rechargeable AA/AAA batteries and battery chargers (outlet and USB-powered). However, I used to sleep with the fans on, but without the electricity, I had to sleep with the radio on. Must be the white noise and the cool air that made me fall asleep.
The power's still out at my parents' house, so i'm typing this in my older sister's house using her 2Wire device and my ethernet cable, where the power's back on and charging my iRecharge, my netbook battery and my AAA batteries at the same time. Too bad the library's closed today until tomorrow.
