I think that those people may be good scammers and to get high value money, they may have planned a good scam with ordinary items connecting those with the name of Gandhiji. Unless thorough investigation is carried on, nobody or no Government is to be blamed for this incident! Thanks and take care!

Then why after many decades this auction drama is there? Was it not identified earlier before decades and the Indian embassy of that country was not informed about its for proper identification and further steps of recovery? It seems a strange fact! Thanks for your comments!

Friend, the memory of the dear Mahatma is not in material things. His legacy came from his actions, not from his possessions. We will remember him for the good deeds he performed and not from the things he owned. The museum in which you propose his things should be kept could be burned down tomorrow, and these material things would be gone forever...but the memory of his great deeds will live in our minds and will be passed down to future generations for all time to come.

First of all tell me who are the people who are auctioning?Secondle why are you very much unhappy about the auctioning of Gandhiji's belongings. There are so many other things in this world for us to scratch our heads .This is a very small thing compared with the terrorists.Do something to create an awareness about the terrorists.Do something for the poor people.Do something to decrease the level of pollution.Do something to help prevent corruption.Dont worry about Gandhiji's belongings when you are only not safe in this world.

Just coz' of Gandhiji we got our Independence very late.If we had waged war with the likes of Subhash Chandra Bose we would have got our Independence very earlier than we got.I surely will agree that he is a mahatma but not for his possesions or his belongings.

I would have thought that his items would have been in a museum by now, but I suppose I don't understand government myself. However, I think about a story I saw that was about a man who is friends with his Holiness The Dali Lama. In the movie the young Dali Lama gives the man a music box. Just gives it to him because he wished him to have it. I would think that Gandhigi maybe would have been the same way. He didn't seem to hold attachments, but perhaps he would have understood someone else's need to have something to remind them daily of their task. Though, please, I am not an expert and do not claim to be. My thoughts are that perhaps someone who purchases these items, may be getting them to perserve them, or to hold a reminder of all that Gandhigi did in his life, and inspires us to do with our life.
