As said on the subject. What you prefer for to read comic or novel. I chose comic because i don't good in making imagination. so i prefer comic because i don't have to imagine how the story tells. Do you ?

I prefer the novel so much more to the comic. The thing i dont like about the comic is how restraining it can be to someone who likes to take exume the novel and all its little details and neuances. It contrains the reader to only think of the character and their subsequent actions as presented by the illustrater, who isnt always the author which further detaches the reader from the intended story of the author. I can defintly appreciate the artisitcal value of illustrations to go along with the narrative the author presents but with pictures being worth a thousand words its not always the case that the both (narrative and illustrations)coincide. Therefore picture, being more atention grabbing, limit the reader to view the story the way the illustrator read it. In the unlikely case that the illustrator and the author are the same person, the illustrations limit the before limitless ways one could interpert the story, which does nothing but under stimulate the mind. The comic to me bears the same principles as a picture book does to a child learning to read; sort of like training wheels, we can explore so much more of the world without them.

wow... awesome respond.. very detail... thanks Farside. Off course sometimes i read novel, but i don't agree if you said comic is just for child. Many adult now like japanese comic they called manga. Most manga fans (maybe around thousand million) are people who age more than 17 years old

Thanks for your feedback cahyorini, but i would like to clear up a misconception my response may have imparted. I did not mean that comics are exclusively for kids instead i said that comic bear the same princple as the do for kids learning to read. Though this may seem like a condesceding comment it was the best comparsion i could make given my experience and backround. I volunteer at an elementary school teaching a variety of kids among other things how to read. However before doing this I made sure that i knew what i was doing so i took the time to read several articles on how children are taugh to read and why picture books work so efficiently. The reason behind this is that human beings can perceive pictures at much higher rates than they can written words, this is just thw way humans work. As such one can read a story to a kid as thy perceive picture withhout havng to stop and show them the words as well as to keep theyre attention. Essentilly they follow along with pictures as i read to them, so that they remain intested in the story and perhaps associate a few words; however i digress.I would next like to say that i am indeed familiar with manga as a friend passed this medium of literature along to me quite some years ago. And I am sure you know a graphuc novel or manga flows much much faster than a novel. This then brings me back to the children learning to read, whereas they take 90 percent of the story from reading one reading a manga takes maybe 50 percent ofthe story from the pictures. So I now hope you see the meaning behind my comparsion and do apologize if i offended you.

I like to read comics much more because it takes me longer time reading novels. Because there are full of words from a novel book:) Besides, reading comics is very relaxing. I love China

I love an action packed, deeply involved and long novel. One that goes into a lot of detail about the story the author is trying to tell. And SciFi's are a good example of the type of story I enjoy reading the most...sometimes a really good SciFi will create a completely new world with a totally amazing culture whose daily activities are oh, so different from ours. And when I come across a paperback like that I sort of get lost in the story. Comic books are okay but the ones that I use to read always left you hanging and you would have to wait anxiously for the next issue...like a 'soap opera'...8o)
