Movie Review: Butterfly Effect

Butterfly Effect - One of the rare movies where you see Ashton Kutcher actually acting and not goofing around on the screen like most of his other movies.

The other movie that I caught was Butterfly Effect starring Ashton Kutcher. Another movie that plays with the idea of time travelling. But this one is different. The time travel was done via memories. Here is the story outline: Evan Treborn (Ashton Kutcher), who suffered severe traumas and blacks outs, as a boy and a teenager, frequently, at moments of high stress. While searching for an answer to why he is always blacking out, he discovered that he is able to travel back in time when he reads from his adolescent journals and is able to essentially "relive" and change parts of his past within the black out period that he used to suffer from as a child. But there are consequences as a result of these changes he made whenever he went back in time. His alternate futures vary from frat boy to prisoner to amputee. He realizes that even though his intentions are good, the actions he takes have unintended, and somewhat, undesired consequences. Struggling to ensure that every around him does not suffer from the consequences of his actions as a boy, he fought hard to right the wrongs he had done. A very interesting take on the butterfly effect. The movie is slow in the beginning. But as the pace picks up, it gets interesting. How he became creative to convince people to be on his side in order for him to right the wrongs he has done as a boy. Overall, the movie is watchable. One of the rare movies that Ashton actually does some serious acting rather than his usual goofing around on the big screen. The storyline is good. Some what predictable, yet, surprising at the same time. A good movie to catch if you don't mind the slow build up to the climatic finale.

hehe ^_^ This is another movie that i have not watched yet again.. lol =D The plot seems nice from the way u describe it.. Is it a new movie or has it been around for quite sometime now?? Is the story somehow like, The lakehouse, whereby the scenes keep changing from past to present?? If so, i dun think i will ever like this kind of shows as it's too confusing for me.. hehe ^_^ BUt i have not seen aston kutcher with serious acting, and that should be quite a breakthrough for him.. lol =D

This movie was made in 2004. I keep wanting to watch it cos of the movie theme. But keep putting it off till last weekend where I got the DVD instead. It is not exactly a keeper. But it is worth a watch. The past and present is really obvius as they refer to him as a boy and then as a college student. So following him in the different time lines is not difficult. Like I said, one of the rare movies where you do not see him goofing around on the big screen.

Wow, yeah i remember this movie. i like this one. I should write a review about this too! haha. i loved this film actually, not because of ashton but because of the story. It's one of those film gems one don't really appreciate until someone recommends it and you watch it. ^_^

ha ha ha ha... yeah, the storyline is an interesting one. And I found the twist in the story very good as well. How, he as a kid, found true love, and used his ability to keep going back to right things till he got it all correct! A very interesting story to follow. Slow in the beginning, but a show worth sitting through!

Yeah... I may look for it to keep a copy myself. Will be hunting for it. I wonder if it is still on sale, considering that it is a 5 year old show.
