help needed: some ideas for a hong kong trip...

hi! it's been several months since i made a discussion and i feel a bit rusty somewhat... hahaha. anyways, if there's anyone here who lives in hongkong or have stayed in hongkong recently... maybe you could give me some ideas on where i should best bring both kids and adults alike. my nephew and nieces are aged 11-12 years old, and i'm also bringing my mom to complete a group of 7. what is a must-see and a must-do in hongkong? how about a must-remember travel tip in hongkong? hehehe i dont have any idea yet where to bring them except for the most obvious place which is hk disneyland. if you can refer hotels, hostels, guesthouse, or even apartments for short-term rental, that would be a great help too. i'm not looking for a fancy place to stay in, just the basic comforts will do, since we will be out playing tourist for the whole day and the most part of the evening too. thanks so much... :)

How did your Hongkong trip went? I'm going to travel sometime this year , so I need all my travel gears soon... I thought of going scuba diving , love it that's going to be in my agenda. Pulau Redang is a good island to scuba dive , my friend's mom is a travel agent so anything I'll just look for her ..when everything set's up. Can't wait..

i am so surprised you dug your way to a discussion made sometime march 2 years ago. i debated having to respond back. but it's obvious which won. hehe the hongkong trip was great. there was 7 of us: my mom, my younger brother, my older brother's wife and their 2 children, my older sister's daughter and myself. we stayed a week. redang island looks good in the photos. wow, hope you have a great time there. do you need to fly out from singapore or would there be a cruise involved or something? must be fun to scuba dive. the closest i ever had was the whaleshark interaction, which i don't think is even close.

starting new discussions... hmmnnn soon. i promised a mylot friend it would be soon. she wondered what is taking me so long... hahaha i had my personal reasons... but yeah it has been so long. d**n too long. scuba diving sounds exciting. i'll have that on my list of must-try. have you ever tried sky diving? i've been wondering about that... i'm not a good swimmer and i was pretty scared during that time at the whaleshark interaction in the open seas. and the whaleshark... no matter how gentle it was supposed to be... was just so hhhhuuuuge it's easy enough to be scared especially if it brushes your side while in the water. lol thanks zed... love it that i feel like chatting with a friend which i really like to do --- obviously. even if i may not always be able to do it as often as i wanted to. hahaha

Thanks myles...tteeeeheee seemingly I'm going to travel soon , so I chose this discussion of yours. You should start making new ones too.. Yes , I might be going by flight and then take a minivan to Redang or something..all will be arranged by my friend's mom. Another friend of mine had gone to an island a few months back and recommended scuba diving so I'm going to have to check the shores of Redang. It might be scary but when it's one with nature , you just have to try it. Anyway luckily I know how to swim , although my friend said it's not necessary to be able to since there will be instructors and all.

Opps.. I'm a little late. Have you ready traveled to Hong Kong? The last time I went to Hong Kong, I stayed in Lantau island. I stayed there because I do not really like to live near the city area. Disneyland and the big buddha statute are in Lautau Island. Personally, I think it's a must to EAT in Hong Kong. It has a lot of nice food. If you like theme parks, other than Disneyland, you can also go to Ocean Park.

it's alright. :) yes i did, spent a week there in march together with my mom, 3 kids and a couple of adults. we stayed in hongkong island but we did go to disneyland. my mom liked the "it's a small world" thing the best, while i like the lion king and golden mickies shows in disneyland. i had to forgo the other tourist spots like ocean park and a day in macau because it proved difficult to have a senior citizen, 3 kids and a couple of adults who are all first-timers in hongkong, agree on the day's itineraries. :) hk has a very good train system all connecting hongkong island to kowloon and lantau islands. i didn't feel a thing at all when we were in the subway, presumably under water. :) thanks for the response. i was about to log-out when i chanced on your post. have a great day! :)

I did visit Macau. I do like Macau a little better than Hong Kong as Macau is cooler and less crowded than Hong Kong. But well, I think this way because I did not go to the casinos. I love poohbear and my favorite ride in Disneyland is the Poohbear ride.
