Any such thing as a legitimate work from home opportunity?

I have been researching this topic now for about 2 years and have yet to find a legitimate opportunity. I am an honest, hardworking person with genuine skills to offer (computer, office, etc). All I can seem find are "scams" that involve marketing/reselling old information, etc (clickbank, affiliate programs, etc). Are there no companies who would like to hire telecommuting employees? I am so frustrated by the dishonesty on the internet. I am tired of wasting my money and valuable time on this garbage! I would like to hear from others in my situation (I live in a rural area) - maybe we can offer each other support and positive influence.
